As part of the two week trial you get free use of yoga mats and towels. After that you can either hire them for a few dollars or get your own. I’m going to try go as much as possible, so probably tomorrow will be the next time. It was a nice change to try a different style of yoga after three months of Bikram. They have all different types of classes, so there’s something for everyone.

I think we are going to do Flow tomorrow at 5:00pm.

Flow

A dynamic sequence of postures that synchronizes breath with movement and integrates awareness and alignment, as well as strength and flexibility. Sequencing may include sun salutations, standing, arm balancing, inverted, and seated postures.

I started getting ready this morning and I called Ian (shredlife) to see if he was riding today. He told me to check the live temps…

I got frostbite on my toes, two years ago in similar temperatures. Mind you I was wearing proper socks and was only out there for a few runs. I think I’m going to stay in and work today. Is anyone riding?

Anyone up for yoga this afternoon at 5:00pm?

Yeah it was crazy cold today! So I found other stuff to do. Mike trekked up for a couple runs though.

I`ll try to make it to yoga sometime this week Jeremy.

You heading up the mountain tomorrow.

Oh and does anyone know how to change back the keys to normal for Canadian computers, besides restarting it… ATM this is my question mark key É  hahaha

I think I will go up tomorrow. Michelle seems to think it’s going to be super cold with wind chill, but I’ll check the conditions in the morning and make a call then.

I’m interested to hear from Mike about the conditions today.

Sounds good, let me know when you’re up for a yoga session.

No idea about your crazy keyboard.  raspberry

umm yeah.. today was kinda cold… lasted 2 runs before i completely lost my toes and there was agony it was that cold. Base was super hardpacked but the cover wasn’t too bad, super dry but patchy in a few places. Bandana came down a bit for the 2nd half of one run because it was snap frozen so the cheeks were stinging like crazy by the time I got down to Red chair. Called it quits after that since I wanted to avoid frostbite in my toes having heard about plenty of other people getting it on really cold days like today.

Will probably head up again tomorrow and just do a couple of runs, nothing too crazy, just building up strength in my knee really.

Fun, fun, fun…

Michelle had me walk to the grocery store this morning when our thermometer was saying -20 outside. The things you do for love…  raspberry

Ouch, going for a stroll in -20!!!

I still want to make it up today, but might wait a bit. The winds are meant to drop in the afternoon.

I’m going to try for later. Hopefully the temps pick up a bit.

Just got back from what was probably my best day up the mountain so far this season, met up with Jeremy and Louise for a few laps. Blackcomb was really crusty and the visibility was pretty rubbish so jumped on the Peak2Peak and shot over to Whistler for a few runs down to Emerald. Jeremy showed me ratfink which i’ve been all around but never actually through so will definitely be hitting that area up later on in the season once theres a better base. Then bumped into Dan and Rhiannon and had a few more laps with them.

Knee held up really well the whole time riding which I was stoked about, got a lot of switch riding in which was brilliant, starting to feel a lot more confident with it so I’ll continue to work on it for the coming weeks whilst we’re waiting for the rest of the mountain to open up. Also rode down to midstation on whistler today for the first time and the cover is much better than I expected it to be, a little crusty and hardpacked in some places but on the whole a much quicker alternative to downloading on the gondola which has been a huge pain.

Grabbed this shot 2 days ago riding down to orange peel.. just ripped the camera out whilst riding along since with the sun out it looks amazing..

And a shot of me that Dan took out the front of our place as we got back from riding today (ours is the last on the left)

Today was the earliest start I’ve had in a while; I was in the village and ready to ride just after 7:30am. I caught up with Louise and we waited in line for Blackcomb to open (today was Blackcomb’s opening day). I was hoping for more than 1cm of fresh snow overnight but no luck. There were lots of fresh lines to be had, although the snow was a bit heavy and crusty. We did several runs of heavy fresh pow lines; killed the legs but it was great fun and perfect to build up strength in the legs. We went past the XL park and they already have at least 4 tabletops, probably up to 30 or so feet, and quite a few rails and boxes.

We caught up with Finney and did a couple more on Blackcomb, before getting the Peak2Peak over to Whistler. If you haven’t seen the Peak2Peak before, it’s a world record breaking gondola from Blackcomb Mountain to Whistler Mountain, spanning over 3km unsupported, and 436 metres above the valley floor.

Whistler had better visibility and snow consistency on the groomed runs. We did a few fast laps then caught up with Dan83 and Rhiannon for a few more. It was awesome to catch up with the Boardworld crew for a shred.

It’s now snowing quite consistently outside - hopefully we get a good snowfall overnight to add to the early season base.
