Where did you see that? Where am I looking wrong?
Although not sure i want to reserve! What if we miss it?
When you click on the drop down box it gives the options!!!!!
You reserve the seat at the ticket counter at the station just before ya catch it!!!!!
Non reserved just means ya in a different carriage that has no allocated seat number!!!!! Sometimes these carriages can be chockers though!!!!! Out of Peak Times you’ll most likely be fine though!!!!!
Oh cool!
So i can buy the ticket now and then decide which train I catch on the day and pre reserve my seat then?

Dunno about single tickets, but pretty sure you can do that with a Pass!!!!!
Google JR Pass Forum, and there’s a section where you can ask questions regardin the JR System, and one of the Moderators will respond!!!!!
Single tickets, I’d just buy before you catch it!!!!!

Okay cool - that’s what i thought but i was wondering if there was significant savings in pre purchasing.
Have a decent crew of 8 going to be in Niseko from 27/12/2015 - 10/01/2016. If anyone’s there then hit me up! Let’s go riding! Or drinking!

Too early for us guys, otherwise it would’ve been a date!!!!!
Ok managed to get this past the boss, a mate and myself will be heading into Japan on Feb 19-28.
I’ve never been to Japan, but my mate has done Niseko a couple of times and raves about it. I’d like to hit up somewhere that hasn’t been completely westernised, offers some good variety of terrain and has doesn’t ban off-piste. This may mean a couple of different places I guess.
I’m seeing a few people are going to Myoko etc. I’ve also read that Nozawa Onsen is pretty fantastic and Shiga Kogen has an impressive 980 metres vertical drop.
Thoughts, opinions?
Late Feb I’d still look to go somewhere on Hokkaido in order to increase your chances of powder!!!!!
Check out Kiroro, Furano, Tomamu, or if ya don’t mind a drive to the hills, somewhere like Asahikawa or Saporro as a base for some great options?????
And although Niseko is very westernised in regards to apartment style accomodation, there’s still lots of Japanese feel to be found if you look!!!!! Easy if you just avoid the western style bars, eateries, etc!!!!!
Wow Kiroro looks pretty damn good. Would you say it’s large enough to spend 7 days there or split it with another place? Rusutsu also looks interesting. Lots of options, that’s for sure!

this!
Only reason I am going to Moyko is to see a different part of Japan.
But still doing a week in Niseko as well!

I’d personally stay longer than 7, but if that’s all the time ya can spare then that’s a lock in regardless!!!!!
Japan (and especially at the back end of the peak powder period) is still susceptible to those dreaded warm spells, so stayin put in the one area can increase the chances of gettin the goods when they do come!!!!!
Havin said that, you can still do a day trip over to Rusutsu/Niseko if they get the goods and Kiroro doesn’t!!!!!
The only downfall of Kiroro (same goes for Rusutsu) is that you won’t have much to do once off the hill!!!!!
But, if you’re plannin on hittin Tokyo (or any other non-snow sight seein) that factor won’t be a real issue!!!!!
Not long to go!
I’ve been speaking to my mate who lives in Nagano. The locals are getting toey waiting for the first big dumps of the season!
Im in Nagano from the 5th Feb to the 15th. Usualy drive to Myoko daily. This will be my 4th trip to Japan for snow.
Bring it on!
For the seasoned how did you go about board bags on the trains? JR trains have enough room or you just pay extra?
Deciding if I should even take my own board or just pack my jacket, boots, etc etc…then hire once i’m there.
I will be going from the mountains to Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and then Osaka then home.

There’s room on the trains if you’re travellin out of peak times!!!!!
Shinkansen has room behind the back seats of the carriage, but get in quick if there’s other snow goers boarding that carriage!!!!!
The BEST thing to do though, is if you have 2 days between transits, use the Takkyubin service to courier your snow gear/excess luggage to/from your accomodation/airport/etc!!!!!
The Concierge/Hotellier/Agent Office and Airport/Train Station Black Cat Depot, will sort it out easy as for ya!!!!! Just have all addresses ready!!!!! Cheap, reliable, and makes city travel soooo easy!!!!!
What’s ya full itinerary????? (Dates/Locations) That way I’ll let ya know the best way to do it!!!!!
