Apologies on lateness here - Finally have some stable wifi since returning from Jindy for the Season.
The selling point: Yés is the FIRST company to offer a LIFETIME warranty against manufacture’s default! BOOM!
Size: 146cm
Overall: One of the sexiest and most functional female boards on the market. From serious rail riding through to icy conditions - the Emoticon has you well and TRULY covered. Beginner to advanced.
Run with: Flux GL bingings size S/M - No highbacks. (Yes I said no highbacks).
Feel: Very stable board in all conditions, has a ridiculous edge hold when going for those hard fast Euro Carves or when in icy conditions. No catches on edges even though I didn’t “de-tune” it unlike you have to with most park boards.
Steeze/appearance: One of the nicest simple graphics I have seen on a ladies board. Easily recognised in the board line up. The HEL YES also is a sexy sleek board from Yés.
Turn Initiation: Easiest most responsive board I have ridden to turn, holds without grabbing.
Flex: A good middle range flex, easy enough to butter but is still solid on bigger jump landings (over 25ft). Quite soft across the tail and nose.
Uneven Terrain: Easiest board I have ridden on all mountain, super stable and can take a bit of a beating from other people around and from smashing through grass/rocks etc,
Weight: Quite lite - although I do run no highbacks.
Edge Hold: The way this board is designed really compliments it’s ability to hold and lock a hard turn - seriously it’s impossible to grab or slip out.
Powder: Super rad in pow - surprising as it’s relatively medium flex and short in length (riding a 146). Super responsive still, even though it is on the softer side.
Speed: It’s super stable even at high speeds and won’t “pop” you out when hitting weird patches of lumpy snow/moguls. Is quick with the factory wax - only waxed this board twice this season and it held it well.
Switch: Super easy - is as good switch as it is regs.
Jumps: Very stable on landing and has good pop on take off, especially given how soft it is on nose and tail. Perhaps would look at the “HEL YES” which is slightly stiffer if wanting to jump anything bigger than say 25-30ft.
Jibbing: I basically learnt to conquer ride on and slope style hop on rails with this baby.
So easy to flex and load up to spin in or out of rails and buttering on the ground.
in the park this board REALLY excels.
Great review, will be getting one for my wife next year for the Aussie season
Thanks for the review, Estelle! We’ve received nothing but great feedback on the Emoticon from all our customers. Stoked you’re happy with the board.
