The Hello Japan Snowboard Experience is an incomparable deep powder tour with some of the biggest legends in snowboarding. This grassroots gathering takes place in Myoko, Japan; home to Honshu’s highest accumulative snowfall. With a snow depth of 16 meters last season, those bottomless turns are virtually guaranteed.
A close-knit community of 12 campers will share this unforgettable experience with the legendary company of Heikki Sorsa, Geoff Brown and Nick Hyne. Spots are strictly limited, so gather your buddies, or come solo but be prepared for Myoko’s uncrowded, endless powder turns.

I definitely think you need Freddy and I on that trip as sponsored journalists to give exclusive insights for BW readers.
Forgive my ignorance but I have never been to Japan and I’m pretty keen to go on one of these Mint tours.
My question is, having never experienced proper Japan powder do you think it would be a mistake to go to Myoko for my first trip?
I am definitely keen to go there because it looks amazing but should I do what everyone does and go to Niseko first? Unfortunately, I can’t go on the hello Japan experience (the dates don’t work) but there’s another one in January I’m thinking about.

Valid question if you’ve never been, but why do you think you’ll get less powder in Niseko?????
I reckon if you’re a confident lower intermediate or better, you’ll be fine no matter what area you choose to go powder huntin in!!!!!
Have a look at http://www.powderhounds.com for a good start that’ll help narrow down a few places!!!!!
Then go for the one that ticks ALL of YOUR Boxes!!!!!
Thanks for the reply Mizu Kuma. I was actually thinking the opposite.
I thought that maybe I would have a better Japan powder experience in niseko. I like the idea of Myoko more ( less crowds more Japanese etc) and by all accounts the powder there is amazing. But niseko is further north and colder and better known for deep, light powder so I was wondering if it would be better to go there for the first trip?

Main difference with Honshu Resorts is that their elevation is higher than say that of Niseko, so you still get great powder!!!!!
If you really wanna go to a resort without westerners, have a good search cause there’s places that’ll beat Myoko for that!!!!!
My only recommendation would be to go in peak snow times, and aim for at least a 2 Week Stay as even Japan can experience a warm period in mid winter that can easily last a week or more!!!!!
Regardless of where you go, follow those tips and you’ll have a ball!!!!!
Tour looks great
