The movie thread

Edge of Tomorrow - pretty good actually.  Loses some points with the predictable ending, though.  8/10

X-Men: Days of Future Past.  Easily the best x-men so far, but still too much teen drama and not enough special effects awesomeness for my liking.  7/10

Love love love Friday Night Lights!!!

I watched the movie years ago and don’t remember loving it as much as the TV show.

So Draft Day eh?

Will have to look into that.

TEXAS FOREVER! =P

Love the TV show, and I really can empathize with the characters, it was definitely well done.

Other NFL movies to watch are Remember the Titans and The Blind Side…

I like the edge of tomorrow, Emily Blunt is hot in it, plus if you don’t like Tom Cruise, you get to see him die heaps of times. =P

RE: X-Men: DOFP
I’m not 100% with the movie studios doing Xmen, but whatevs they still have the rights, it’s not as polished as some of the Marvel Studios stuff, but it’s was an improvement from X3. I do like Quicksilver in that movie tho’. lol.

Speaking of comic movies, what did ppl think of The Amazing Spiderman 2? I thought it was just like X-Men but a little under it, too much big bang and not enough quality in the content.

Remember the Titans is one of my least favorite movies… possibly because everytime we had a school trip somewhere, or for some reason got to watch a movie at school… that was it… have seen that movie way to many times…

Went and saw Sin City: A Dame to Kill for, with a mate the other night. Not quite as good as the first, but still pretty awesome… I Was kinda confuesed throughout a lot of it, because i didnt know it was a prequel and a sequel, with events happening before, after and at the same time as things in the first movie…

EDIT:
RE: X-Men DOFP… it needed more Blink… Blink was hot.
and the scene with Pedro (Quicksilver) was the best part of the movie. IMO… set the bar high for Avengers version of quicksilver. Who i get the feeling is going to butcher it. Along with the rumor him and Scarlet Witch arent going to be brotehr and sister, but instaid lovers :/

Lets be cops. Has 2 of the guys from New Girl in it and I thought it was quite a good Action Comedy. Great if you just want a good laugh and a quiet night in. Definitely worth a watch.

7.5/10

Saw that.. it was a good laugh with Coach and Nick Miller.. lol… However at times it seems drawn out, like an extended coach and nick scene.

Nina Dobrev is good eye candy tho’. =P

Just watched John Wick, and that was good.

Watched The Amazing Spiderman 2 the other day - was anything but amazing. Came across like it was made for kids and didn’t hit the mark, I barely hung on to the end.

X-men DOFP - like all in the franchise, top shelf. Wolverine is such an interesting character. Unlike Mudhoney; I thought there was too much CGI.

Edge of Tomorrow is awesome - watched it 3 times now, can’t get enough (my daughter thought it was excellent).

I enjoyed this too. Not enough for a few watches but worth 1 at least.

7/10 for me.

I just saw Whiplash.  Holy crap, if you haven’t seen it, go get it NOW.  Bit of a guy flick I guess, but really intense and awesome right to the end 10/10.

Watch it on something with good sound.

My mates raved about this too.

My recent reviews:
Kingsman - Not bad but not great. Sam L Jackson’s lisp brings it down. 7/10
The Interview - Not a fan of Seth Rogan and James Franco normally but this was a pleasant surprise. 8/10
Birdman - For a movie that got an oscar or something, I thought it was overhyped. 7/10

I am going to see Kingsman tonight, been waiting ages to see it but just had things constantly getting in the way.

Recently saw Fifty Shades of Grey and American Sniper. How fake is that damn baby in American Sniper LOL

I have a theory that overly fake (movies and TV props) are on purpose because if they are real looking they are too confronting. We (as viewers) need to be able to see they are fake to cope with it.
I’ve seen realistic fx that make me not want to watch the scene, or even the movie, again.

In saying that; I haven’t seen American Sniper. What’s the verdict?

Watched Birdman the other day - I had no pre-conceptions.
Very well done but can see it’s a movie made for actors (thespians) to appreciate. Had me second guessing his mental state throughout.
It did touch a personal nerve as to why I left my acting career.

Not awesome and has a definite niche audience.

I thought it was great. Very touching story on many levels. Solid 8/10.

Unrelated, keep an eye out for the movie “Chappie” which is coming out soon. Michelle’s dad’s visual effects company did all the visual effects for this movie including Chappie himself. Stars Hugh Jackman.
