So the husband and I will be arriving in Canada in a week and heading to whistler a few days later. Looks like conditions aren’t quite as awesome as we’d hoped but still keen to make the most of it (any on snow time is good time! ).
So interested in what people would recommend given the current/likely conditions.
Also keen to hear any non-snowboarding suggestions worth considering.
Cheers all
Usually the lower mountain (mid-village) has softer/slushier condition compared to the top. But in general it’s hardpack/icy then softening up throughout the day. The best snow I think is still 7th heaven, but I went to Harmony and Symphony today and it wasn’t bad. Some icy sections but not as bad as last week where almost every run is sheet ice.
Lots of good food to try.
Some that I like:
Splitz Grill (Whistler’s most famous burger)
21 step
Cows (ice cream)
Menchies (Froyo)
Zogdog (I don’t know why people like this so much, I don’t like hot dogs so)
Beavertail (kind like deep fried waffle with various toppings you can choose)
Fat Tony’s Pizza. (beef and blue) DO IT!!! I stayed a floor above fat tony’s for 2 weeks and it was torture every day smelling the deliciousness!
Earls is good if you want a sit down restaurant.
2nd on BeaverTails. get the reces’ pieces and nutella. OMG so messy and bad. but so good.
zipline tour is good if you have some spare time off the slopes. good little hike and adventure through the trees.
just quietly.
Is there anything more interesting than the Whistler Winter FB group. I think not.
its a peephole into the depths of society. just excellent.
on another note. Went to Silver star this weekend past - really cool mountain. on a pow day it would be unreal no doubt. but the groomers were might fast and the park was actually really varied and a lot of fun features were had! +1 in my books kids.
Whistler winter FB page is glorious.

Hey geniass, how long will you be in town for? Give me a call and let’s catch up — Jeremy 604 905 8327. I’m usually around at least on the weekends and I’d be happy to show you guys around the mountain (and drink beer with you later haha).
I was riding just over the past weekend and on Monday, and while we haven’t seen any new snow in a while, the conditions in the alpine and even mid mountain were super fun. The sun has been shining, the temps have been perfect, and the snow has been firm yet soft enough to have heaps of fun. I honestly had a blast over the last few days of riding.

Hey Jeremy
That’d be awesome.
We get into Vancouver on Saturday and have a couple of days there. We’ll be heading up to Whistler on Monday and there until Sunday the 8th.
It’s about time I updated this thread with some snowboarding content. OK, here we go…
My buddy from Australia arrived in Vancouver on Friday. We picked him up, packed the car, and headed to Whistler for the next three days. I have been riding Whistler over the course of many seasons, and while the conditions have been far from perfect (no powder days in a while, warm temps), right now the mountain is super fun! Considering how bad the weather was over the past few weeks, it’s quite incredible how well the upper mountain has retained snow, and you can still ride down to the Village and Creekside without any problems!
With a pretty solid base in the alpine, there’s some amazing terrain to ride. It’s been absolutely glorious up there! The sun has been shining, the temps have been ideal, softening the cover perfectly in some areas, especially from about 11am when the sun softens the cover. I can honestly say Sunday was probably the best day of my season (minus a couple of powder runs earlier in the season). Whistler Mountain is a bunch of fun right now! I can’t wait to get back.
Coming up Peak Chair. Whistler Bowl on the right.
Michelle has been loving her new setup. YES Hel + Now IPO.
Doesn’t get much better than this.
My two buddies from Aus and Michelle. Riding from Peak Chair over to Harmony.
Mark and Benji on Peak Chair.
The Saddle has been in great shape. Granted, super icy at the drop in, but if you immediately go hard right, the snow on the ridge of the groomer is some of the best snow on the mountain. Super fun and fast as you get lower as well. I’ve really been enjoying the Saddle lately.
Looking over to Black Tusk from the cat track.
Whistler: one of my favourite places on Earth.

Sounds good. Give me a call when you get in and we’ll see if we can make our plans align. I might make a mid-week day trip up there to catch up with you (I’m sad to say it but I’ve been more of a weekend warrior this season as Michelle teaches skiing every Sunday).
I’ll never forget the views there and how on a really clear day it actually looks like a painting or a 3d model in front of your eyes. The pic isnt edited but looks so generated. Its bizzare how crazy it looks in real life.

Was about to say the same thing!
I went snowboarding with friends today, it was really really fun
