Time to get my own board!

Avatar

Wow that’s after three days!

Yep I’m going to have to get a tute on how to wax my board.

Yeah can’t wait to find out where I will be, will be sweet if I’ll be at Hotham for the shred.

It’s really not that hard, get a block of wax, a cheap go-lo iron and a scraper and you’re good to go.

1. Put the iron on medium and go over the board a bit to heat it up.
2. Put the wax to the iron and drip some splotches on the board.
3. Use the iron to spread it out over the board
4. Leave the board for an hour or more (overnight is better)
5. Scrape all the excess off so the board is smooth.
6. If you’re super keen, get a chux kitchen sponge and use the bristly side and lightly go over the wax to give it some texture.

What are your thoughts on Buller?

I think by far the busiest mountain in Vic, I tend to go on daytrips to buller when I can.

Can get pretty busy, but if there’s enough coverage, you can get a fairly long run in, and there should be enough of the mountain for you to head elsewhere quiet if you know the area. Definitely one of the more popular and closer to the city places.

Where are you living at now?

Yeah that’s what TJ said oh well could be good.

I’m living in Adelaide now but the GF and I are moving to Melbourne towards the end of the yea . So could work out well.

Congratulations on the interview!

I rode Buller for the first time last season. Seems like a really cool mountain and the terrain was really decent for Australia. I quite enjoyed the two days I spent riding there. All the instructors I spoke to seemed to really enjoy working there, which is always a good sign as they are on the mountain every day.

Cool thanks everyone for the info on the mt.
I’m sure wherever I end up I’ll make it an awesome season.

That’s it. Your attitude, and generally just making the most of the opportunity, will be the determining factor in how great your season is. I am sure you will have an absolutely epic season! grin

I’d say it’d be a pretty good mountain for instructors. Burke Street is a really long beginner hill for Aus and they could actually teach people there. The other mountains I have been to have either much harder or much busier beginner slopes.

Perisher - Front Valley is terrible to learn on. And people don’t want to take family etc to Smiggins / BC. BC is a main artery of a trail and has people rushing past noobs quite often which can cause accidents.
Smiggins is awesome but out of the way so you don’t really want to take your group there to drop people off lol.
Thredbo - Friday Flats is pretty short and super crowded due to the next easiest run being at the top of the freaking mountain.
Hotham - Also seems pretty good, up the top of the mountain and out of the way.
Falls - I haven’t really seen it too much :(.
