Hey Billy (since social seems to be dead!)
What are people’s thoughts on snow boots?
Been looking at a pair of Sorels, but $200 and they are pretty much a tall boot.
Also been looking at the Globe/Yes Sores ~$150
A bit more shoe like, but could be a bit low for the deep snow.
Passports ready to pick up from the city.
9 days and I’m out!
Eh, I just deal with my DC’s at the snow… Wet socks don’t really bother me
Sorry friends I’ve been catching up on so much stuff since I’ve been home, haven’t had time to post here!
Matty I have a pair of sorels. But even some sort of waterproof boots are fine.
Such a wicked time (again) in Japow. Not as many pow days as previous years but still a few goodies
Ahhhhh now that I’m home I wanna go back!!!
Boooo hooo

Hey guys, I’ve been invited up to Hokkaido on short notice. I leave in 2 days! Any tips for a good place to stay in the Niseko area? There’s 7 of us. Sorry, no time to search the thread.

I have been rocking a pair of black waterproof Timberlands here in Whis.
Have been doing the job perfectly and look good (I think anyway)
Waterproof / water resistant boots are essential for prolonged periods in alpine towns. Gone are the days of me wearing skate shoes in Whistler (or anywhere else). I used to have wet and cold feet all the time. Not in the last few years. I’ve been wearing boots and I don’t know how I ever lived without them. Any hightop water resistant boot should do the trick. You basically want them sealed all through the side of the tongue (between the tongue and the shoe opening) so snow can’t get down there.

If I were in your shoes I’d be contacting Hokkaido Tracks first up, then working my way through other accommodation providers. It’s pretty short notice. They are apartment style though - so depends on your budget.
If you are looking at lodge/backpacker style give Owashi Lodge a try - can’t beat the location, but at such short notice - for 7 - I reckon you’ll have better luck finding an apartment that had a booking fall through.
Just my thoughts.

I wear water resistant Après boots - tall ones.
I like the grip when walking, I like that my feet are dry and warm.
The kids (adult kids) still go the skate shoe option. I’ve bought them Après boots and the like, but they prefer the skate shoes. They have however taken to giving them a spray with waterproofing for shoes. It works. They’re happy.
Gamblor, could try skijapan, they sorted us out super efficiently.
..... leaving on Friday, woot!!
Skijapan gamblor!!
email has been sent to skijapan. just waiting for a reply.
It’s pretty hectic, I meet up with the crew at the airport on Thursday and we don’t have a place or a van!
I guess I will be taking a sleeping bag!

I might be a bit late, but I’d try ringin the couple of realestate agents that are based in Niseko!!!!!
I reckon you’d also be after a less expensive form of Accomo than that of what Hirafu has to offer?????
You should look at Kutchan, Annupuri, or Higashiyama, or even the Izumikiyo Areas, and either hire a van at Chitose Airport or try for a place that comes with a vehicle and bus it up with a lift pass/bus pack from chitose!!!!!
There’s a couple of places on Airbnb that come with cars, but at last minute I reckon you’re gonna have bugger all options!!!!!
