You are limited to which airline to use due to all the restrictions.
yeah it would be good if we could make a list of “snowboard” friendly airlines i.e. those that allow you to split your luggage allowance between an oversize snowboard bag and a regular checked in bag at no extra cost.
Only thing I guess is that different airlines policies change as they are becoming tight arses more and more…
yeah dont see that happening
policies change too often so unless you have a semi full time on it the information could be outdated and wrong which is even worse if you think about it
book believing one thing only to find out its changed
people just need to read fine print before booking
if they cant be bothered they need to pay someone else to do it ie agent
same policy as pretty much everything else in the world right now
I just had a quick look and qantas, etihad and thai airways still will take 2 pieces of luggage, one being a snowboard bag, as long as combined total adds up to equal or less than the allowed baggage limit…they were just the first 3 that I happened to look at.
i found a helpful article on snowboarding.com prior to going to USA, RE: which airlines allow what baggage etc.
Helped me decide to fly Southwest for all my internal flights which didnt charge me for my snowboard bag. they allow 2 checked bags, 1 being my board bag

It gets really complex with some airlines like Singapore Airlines was just to complex and cost you a lot of money for long distance travel.
This is the best guide I could find.
Hey everyone, thought this would be the best place to post this as it mainly regards air travel.
I’m thinking of grabbing a dakine boot pack 50L to free up room in my snowboard for clothing to be place so i can avoid the hassle of having two checked bags. The question is, has anyone ever flown with a boot pack and does anyone know if this item in particular can be carried on eg is small enough to be classed as carry on.
Cheers is anyone could hellp
The borf brings his ski boot bag as carry on sometimes! But usually he checks it in, it’s easier that way - doesn’t have to think about it. So you can do it, as long as it’s in the dimensions
Last time I flew with my boots in my Burton Wheeliegig
Snowboarders at least have lighter boots!
They weighed my bag at the gate and made me carry them on - they were worried about the total weight of the bag. They didn’t care i was actually over the limit (at about 13kg!)
But I put them back in on the plane and put the bag in the over head locker.
