We moved over in April/May, but we had applied for Lu’s visa on December 30th, sent it all express in the morning.
The VERY next day, Dec 31st at 7 or 8pm we got the approval emails from IEC, I’m not kidding it was under 24 hours for them to approve it.
My theory is they had a new years party and someone stopped by their desk half cut on cheap wine and just ticked “approve” on all the open applications hahaha
Just make sure you go with ppl who are experienced if you’re going side country.
I went to whistler bowl today where Jez took us yesterday after the lesson with @PosiJohn and @theGraphicsMan, went skiier’s left but didn’t cut right and had to go through the waterfall, taking 3 icey drops of 3 to 1.5 metres. Luckily we didn’t fall into the waterfall, but I think the words “fearing for our lives” were uttered. Plus I owe the mrs a BIIIIIG favor as she wanred me about a waterfall here, citing it’s too early in the season if we find it.
Reminds me of the last year when I almost found and fell off a cliff at the Crystal.
PosiJohn’s first lisftchair selfie
The g/f after the first drop at the waterfall, and me on the 2nd. Note the finger she’s giving me for leading her the wrong way.
would you mind sharing where this is looking up at/from?
i have tomorrow off so will be having my first proper look around peak and harmony for the season. meeting at whis gondy at 9 if anyone is looking for people to ride with
anything out there that needs avoiding given the base is still developing?edit: has anyone ridden the symphony side from harmony ridge yet and can shed some light on the conditions?
It’s looking up to “Doom and Gloom”, as Skip mentioned. It’s technically past the resort boundary at the moment. It was really nice up top with the fresh snow, but it would be tracked by now. Also, you need “Grande Finale” to get out of there, and it was pretty sketchy to be honest. I wouldn’t go up there until there’s more snow. It needs a lot more cover.
I thought it was around there but it’s not an area I’m overly familiar with.
Sounds like sun bowl through to harveys might be the go this morning then.
Cheers
Yeah if i was riding today i’d be going to the back side of harmony into symphony. probably still some goods to be found just keep it safe!
This weekend coming. at it again - YIEW. its monday and the stoke is high already.
As dan said, “The stoke tank is FULL”

Wait until there’s more snow, and I’ll take you there. Lots of good areas to explore.

Sounds good - will hold you to this!
I’ve done a couple laps down grande finale way and through the trees on the skiers right of that area but did not spend enough time in there last year so looking forward exploring it.
Found some nice turns off harmony ridge today, pretty tracked (as expected) but very enjoyable, another area i didnt spend enough time in last year!
Any DnB heads heading to this on Christmas Day?
Snowing pretty decently tonight! Anyone keen to meet and come up with me? I’ll be in the village at 745 cause I know there’ll be a decent line..

John, if i was in whis for christmas i would definitely be there! I’m a massive dnb/dub fan.
Riding this saturday and sunday with Jez and Dan if anyone wants to kick it.
^ I’ll kick it… I’m free up this weekend.
Currently in Van and going to travel back to Whistler 3pm today, so I’ll be shredding Friday onwards.
@PosiJohn: How’s your practice going? =)
Slightly off topic, but very Whistler-relevant:
Underground Tuning are the bomb-diddily-bomb. Got a discount on my board repair and tune up, plus he also offered me a great discount on one of the jackets from their own line, “I FOUND”.
Highly recommend! :-D

Painful! I think I’ve got heelside, falling leaf, and stopping down but I still suck at toeside.
Only been up once since Sunday and ended up working yesterday otherwise I’d have gone then.
I start work at 12 on Saturday so if it’s not too busy I’m gonna try and get 2 hours practise in before work.
Rhys, that’s a shame. Looks like a good night. I’m sure there will be plenty more nights before the end of the season though
I will be up to Whistler for Saturday and Sunday. Looking forward to shredding with everyone again!
Keep working on your toeside, John!
Looking good, folks!
