David McColm: The Night Watchman

David McColm is not your ordinary Whistler photographer. His masterpiece time lapse images forego the familiar hero shots of big mountain athletes and picture-perfect ski models for a more artistic rendition of winter’s playground. Inspired by centrifugal skylines and mountainscapes, McColm’s quest to get the shot captures the microcosmic synergy that thrives in Whistler.

Stunning! drool

Plans are coming together well for my imminent arrival.

Jonny messaged me about a potential BW cat boarding day which would be epic. Also looks like he can help me out with snowmobiling/sledding if anyone else is keen?

I’ve spent way to much on an NHL ticket for the Canucks vs the Flames (I went the row one blue line option) but looking forward to adding a new live sport to my list.

Jez got my hopes up that I might be able to take part in the rescheduled AST course until I realised Day 1 I’d be in Vancouver/Hockey teacherboy

I’m hoping Dylan can teach me the art of the 3am “snowboard” session LOL

Looking forward to some great meals after some of the food porn shots I’ve seen popping up.

So yeah it can start snowing now! nutjob

Hey! I’ve just sent an email out to the people who are keen to do the AST1 course. We are looking at different dates now, so that might be more useful?

Let me know if you want to join as well!

Was up there today, did slight boot packing near the Garbanzo and it was great…. no one else was there as everyone was going up to Harmony area instead…. so I got some pretty primo runs…. apparently they’re going to open up the alpine areas tomorrow….

And I’ll definitely be there. =)

@grunge: You have any idea if it’s still a bit rocky up in the alpine? Thinkin I should bring my rock board if it’s still rocky.

My plan for tomorrow:

Get to Creekside Gondola for first lifts, go up red, smash out one or two fast warm up laps, get in line at Peak.

* The plan may alter slightly depending on the situation/information/lines.

Walked up Pika’s to the trees at the first corner today (GS/Rabbit Tracks?), didnt go further as they had the avi bombing signs up. Had a couple knee deep turns and the rest not quite boot deep. Looking back up Back Bowl the cover looked pretty good but there were still some pretty big boulders poking through in areas.
Also did a run from top of Jersey along the road to 7th then through the trees to the right hand hairpin of easy out, cover was deep and fun to ride, although I did take a tumble and ended up in a waist deep hole as i tried to climb out.
Snow was soft to about 1500m then started to get a bit heavy and sticky.
Peak and 7th should be fun tomorrow for those that get to enjoy it!
