TJ you missed the most obvious and closest “cheap” housing option for whistler, pemberton
as far as doing whistler on a budget, yes it still can be done, you just need to plan. sure staff who are members of club shred get 10% off at the grocery store in the village, but its still much cheaper to do a big shop down in squamish every few weeks
oh and aaron did your gf tell you i said hi? i was in the springs and she asked me if i was on bw when i was beeing served and then told me that we met at perisher, if it was this season i was probably too drunk or high to remember, and any season before, well that part of the memory is long lost 
gondolas: sooo they have figured out how to mount them so the skiis dont hit anything in the stations?

deano was in very fine form last night, it was his and jacqui’s orientation at longhorns, yes they are both working there, yes this is bad for my liver, and yes by bad i mean worse.
we were all dancing on tables at some point, imke even got approached by one of the managers to come on a regular basis and dance because no one creates an atmosphere like that girl does. I had to play catch up because i finished work at 11pm and everyone was drunk by then, 1hr in i was 6 beers and 8 shots deep, how i was the last one standing idk, and how im awake writing all of this at 8:30am i also dont know
All i know is im having a fucking amazing time and the mountain hasn’t even opened yet, I fucking love whistler
Oh and one of the guys i work with, we were talking last night and he mentioned that nev from snowboard addiction is his landlord, has been for 13 months and is probably the best he’s had in whis

Re the housing crisis: you’re all looking at it from the poor ski bum view - which to be fair is a lot of people. BUT whistler is made up of heaps of other people, particularly those who live there full time likely dont all earn $10 an hour. I almost took at job in a firm up there and i would have been making the same as i make in Vancouver so it would have been totally financially viable.
can’t bloody wait for the season to kick!

Would you drive up on the Saturday, Rhys? Or Friday night? I think we are going to head up on Friday night.

Valid point for sure. I agree with you. It’s not the easiest place to get your foot in the door, get settled, make it viable — but once you do, it’s almost too good to be true. Whistler eats some people for breakfast, which I think makes it even more special if/when you get your shit sorted and make it work.

Well alysha needs to get her pass printed so ideally we would get there before 5pm on friday… but its unlikely with work etc. which means she wouldn’t be able to get it until they open at 9am which kinda sucks.
