Yeah something must have changed when we migrated to the new server. The old max size was set to 100x100, but when I checked yesterday it was up to 512x512. Something must have changed very recently. It’s still actually set to 512x512 so we might see a few more funny looking avatars popping up, haha. The developers will fix it soon though. smile

Have you seen the prices?

And I am not quite sure its legal???

Not sure suppliers like Burton who restrict sales will be happy. They have legally binding contracts!

Yeah, looks exy.

One would think that Aussie Post would have lawyers looking into the legals.

I don’t care either way, if I want something, I get one of my American hombres to hook me up smile

Obviously this isn’t good news for Australian retailers. That said, the service isn’t cheap and I doubt it would work for items like snowboards, as Australia Post doesn’t currently accept items of that size, even domestically.

I hope consumers weigh up the cost of shipping vs supporting Australian stores like Boardworld that offer great customer service and show loyalty to their customers — and also getting a warranty (buying overseas voids your warranty in Australia).

On a personal level, I am sinking everything into rebuilding our store for next winter, with an amazing new brand/product range, which I hope you guys will be stoked on. I don’t expect anything other than your consideration of the above points. I hope you know that by supporting Boardworld (in any way), we will always support you and show you loyalty. It’s my absolute goal to make sure Boardworld always looks after our members/customers. If you guys aren’t completely stoked with the full service, giving you the best overall value, then we are doing something wrong.

Thanks for listening. shaka

Jez my biggest argument for buying overseas is i have more choice.

Case in point - went to buy new sneakers for cross training etc. Spent time having a custom fit in store.

I was offered one style one colour (fugly!). a quick Google and I was offered a range of styles.

Using this example and comparing to a proper fitted snowboard boot.

I may try on every boot in your store and the best fit for me is ‘xyz’ in bright neon pink.

Ain’t many people who will buy that, double so if they can get that exact boot in a colour they like for cheaper buying overseas.

If a store in Australia can’t provide the full range then they should be able to be a middle person/broker.

e.g -  i try on a boot and choose what why I want and the colour and then you email Burton and arrange for it to be delivered to my house (or your store which ever is easiest for the customer) and you get your usual cut/mark up.

I know this is not your issue it is the suppliers. They need to come up with a better model!

Hey Burton - Have a warehouse in China and ship from there I don’t care.

You as a retailer require less store space.

yes have a bunch of stuff for people who need it then and there. But wanting it immediately requires less choice.

This whole - smaller market gets smaller choice is BS in the global market place (cause it is global!)
