Yeah…I looked it up after posting…20kgs.
That’s where the bastards got me last time!
I was well under weight going over so my friends over weight bag was off set by mine.
I was 24kg coming back but she was more I think - cost us something like $700 buck to get through check in! Faaaarrrkkkk!
It’s not $10 a kilo, it’s either $40 or $50 depending on if you calculate it from point A-C or A-B then B-C. Knowing Cathay it’ll be the most expensive option!
So I shouldn’t be taking my gear because I’ve got a full set over there - but I want to!
So .... 6 ppl travelling together. Gotta take board/boots etc for the Spaniard ‘adopted son’, gotta take baby bears board that #2 brought back with him and used all Southern Season, WANT to take mine - board, bindings, boots, helmet etc etc. but PB, #1,#2, #3 all have their gear there. So between us we should be ok.
I’ll leave my gear there for my March trip, so coming back won’t be an issue.
Mate, if it’s only $10 a KG, just pay a little extra so ya don’t have to stress!!!!!
After all, ya on holiday!!!!!
Does the flights include the Chitose to Tokyo?????
Make sure to spend at least a couple days in Tokyo as the place is a buzz!!!!!
And if there’s around 2 days in transit from one spot to the next, use the Takkyubin (courier service, look for the black cat) to ship us board etc, so ya don’t have to lug ya gear on the plane/train/through the city!!!!! Cheap as, and super reliable!!!!!
Having another look it doesnt seem right. That’d be from zone 1 - zone 1. Where as Japan is zone 2. Even still, if thats correct. It’d be $20 a kilo.. Thats not including travel from Chitose to Tokyo, So probably try and work that out when im over there. Definitely spending a few days in Tokyo, got a bunch of crew staying in Hakuba, so might try and get over there as well. See how much time I have really. Iv got 5 weeks, a little more then I first expected haha (and the boss) So should have time to do a fair amount.
Matty see if you can call and get it added on.
Adding and internal leg in Japan only cost 100,000yen if booked in conjunction with he international fare.
Domestic flights in Japan are exxy on their own.

Im also going Cathay.
7kg carry on and 20 for baggage?
I found out every KG over is US$10
you can easily do it under 20kg!

$20 is still pretty good!!!!! Only gotta look at LMB’s post!!!!!
Best to go Tokyo (or even Kyoto or the like) in between Niseko and Hakuba, that way you can Takkyubin ya gear over to where ya stayin in Hakuba durin those days!!!!!
For the domestic flight from Chitose to Tokyo use this http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2364.html and also have a browse at the rest of the info on that site while ya there, as its a gold mine of info!!!!!
Australia is considered zone 3 with Cathay (zone 1 only applies to within Australia flights), so it’d be zone 3 to zone 1 to zone 2. You’d be looking at a minimum $30/kg.
I was looking into it because we’re flying Cathay to Europe and taking our boards etc. and it’d cost us $60/kg if we went over! Definitely going to be packing light!!
Don’t ask me, for some reason jal allowed us to take 2 x 23kg per person so that’s just what I did! One bag 20kg, one 17kg - just for me!!!

Careful about the dimensions though!!!!!
Mrs Miz and I did a deal with them last time, where we took 1 x 23KG each, plus one board bag x 23KG!!!!! (All our ridin gear in a coffin)

.
That’s how they get ya!
When you can pre buy an extra bag it’s cheap. But excess baggage at the airport is a kicker!
I knew there was a reason I went Qantas rather than Cathay. Fugging spewing! I’d get 2x32kgs with QFF, but go Cathay I lose 44kgs worth with no reasonable option to upgrade.
