Whistler 2014-15 House Hunt Thread

Avatar

Housing costs have gone up A LOT this season. I’ve passed on a one bedroom in Emerald for Deano to check out. The landlord is looking for a 1-yr lease which we don’t need right now. Deano, if you don’t take it let us know here as someone else might be interested.

Michelle and I are looking at two two-bedroom places on Thursday. Will pass on anything that we don’t take. Both aren’t advertised currently.

Yeah I think I would have gone broke so much quicker living in Whistler than elsewhere. Definitely a larger chunk of money goes to being so close to Vancouver and all the perks that come with that lifestyle.

Deano didn’t take the 1-bedroom suite in Emerald. It’s not currently advertised anywhere. It’s fully furnished with internal laundry. There is no dishwasher. $1400 per month and they are looking for a 1-year lease. Let me know if anyone is interested and I can put you in touch with the landlord. I’d imagine it won’t stay available for too much longer.

i bet you didn’t get it because there was not dishwasher you lazy shit.

Hahaha

We have an inspection on a place in Alta Vista on Sat, and a place in Whistler Cay on sunday.

Hopefully these pan out. Hostel living can eat a dick!

My girlfriend and I have started looking for a place for the season. We won’t be up in Whis until around Nov 15-16 but willing to pay from Nov 1 to lock something down. We were both there winter 2012-13 and it seems to be far harder to find work and accom this time!

If anyone knows of any rooms available or is looking for a group to fill a house let me know. Only looking for something for the winter season as we’ll probably be moving on after that.

Cheers!

Best bet is joining forces with a couple/someone who is already here.

We did that, and had an inspection with a couple who have been looking for the last fortnight.

Good luck!

This is a great idea for a thread! Cheers Jez!

I’m struggling on the housing situation right now. Whistler is a weird company, I got staff housing for my first 3 seasons and the 4th season I’m on the waitlist?? WTF?
Return staff in Perisher gets treated better, not worse. Whistler is weird… but anyway:

I’m looking for house mates to rent out a place. Preferably I would like my own room but I can share if it comes down to it. I’m a pretty chilled out guy and I like to keep the place clean but I don’t stress out if people forget to do the dishes etc (I’ve been in staff accom a long time LOL). I’m looking to be in Whistler from Mid November until May and I’m flexible with those dates if needs be.

Hit me up! If you have a room to fill, I’m your guy. And if I find something I’ll do the same for you guys shaka

Well we got approved fro a 1 bed place in Tamarisk, Jacqui is going to check it out properly on Tues and negotiate the lease. Looking at a 1 year but renogotiation of lease $$$ come end of winter.

Has a spa, sauna, fireplace and right on Alph Lake. Its pretty pimp.

But we re also awaiting on confirmation from a few places we checked out in Creekside before we pull the trigger.

Michelle and I are still looking as well.

Most landlords are looking for one-year leases which is making life a bit difficult. We are going to Europe for four months in the summer, so we don’t want to take a full year lease.

If you guys have a spare room in a house which needs renting for the winter, please let me know.

I’ve never had such trouble finding a place in Whistler. What’s going on this year?

Thankfully we have a house in Vancouver otherwise I would be joining the homeless in Whistler club very soon.
