I’ve done the bone chip in my fingers before and it hurts / leaves a bit of disfigurement but ultimately isn’t too bad.

The main problem with likes is that it promotes lurkers rather than posters. I think it’s more beneficial for you to post “wow that’s awesome” or “Cheers big ears” than to click a “Like” button.
For 1, posting even a useless comment bumps the page and gets more people to look at it. A like generally just shows up on the page and more pages get forgotten.
