Far to many quote boxes in a thread grinds my gears
When Tambo and I get asked if we are going to have kids, the person asking gets a shit load of laughter and the questioned back
“What planet are you the fuck from??” (Spoken like the gnarly old guy in Art of Flight)

And then I usually walk off awkwardly to the fridge and get a beer, after that!!!!!
It’s okay gaiz.
I have a bigger can for the worms I’ve opened up with the “winning.”
Bottom line: don’t ever judge/expect what someone is going to/should do because they’re not you.
Also what grinds my gears is people (including me,) not reading my posts wholly and in context. I know sometimes we’re all in a hurry but let’s put the bats back until we re-read and ask more questions to understand the whole thing.
let’s put the bats back
Sorry no can do, I about to crack Mizu a good one in the noggin
Hahahaha

Maybe I didn’t make it clearer on my original post and I cbf going back to check, but I’m happy for anyone to do whatever they want or ask me questions.
But when you do that and judge and put your standards on me, that’s when I respond appropriately. =)
Also, did I mention what grinds my gears is not being able to have a 9 month snow season down under…? =P
Your original post was clear about that no stres mate.
And completely agree with you.
Other people just made asking about kids a taboo subject

us people were not making it taboo to ask, just saying that the logic as to why you think you have the right to ask is bullsh!t
Haha I think the general consensus is that asking something along the lines of “do you and your partner (or just you) want to have kids? If so how many?” Etc is acceptable - depending on the person asking and the situation etc.
Where as asking “why dont you have kids?” Or when are you going to have kids/why haven’t you yet?” (- assuming everyone has to have/needs to have kids) Kind of thing isn’t acceptable - again depending on the relationship between the person asking and being asked. etc
I’m fine with being asked if I want kids etc.. But depending who you are I feel a little uncomfortable being told I should have kids by now/or asked why I haven’t got kids or that I’ve been with my partner long enough and should already have kids.. - that grinds my gears as there is so many other factors as to why we haven’t had kids yet and we both mutually agree on this… And its our business and our decision… no one else’s..
What the actual fuck?!
At what point is asking someone if they have kids akin to asking if their daughter fucks?
Unless your asking your daughter if she is having kids, then it’s the same thing yeah??
Sure…i guess haha

“Too busy winning, I see your life is just as good as mine…”
When they react badly to this, you know deep down inside they know they’ve made a choice they can’t undo and maybe sometimes regret more often than not.
Usually when they use the “why haven’t you,” they react badly and try to justify their position or to let you know you’re missing out.
I’m pretty confident that using them as a benchmark I’m not missing out.
When they don’t react badly, I usually have a convo with them about how I see all these people having kids and loving it, and that maybe somewhere deep down inside, I may not be ready for it. I call this the nice out, plus it actually does make me feel like I may be missing out. I think for these people it’s not about regretting their decision, it’s about understanding where they are in life and where they want to be. Just like myself and partner. (we had a discussion and I think before we get a child, we’d prefer to adopt…)
Nobody gets offended, and it’s a mutually beneficial conversation.
Speaking of grinding gears, mine is grinded coz I don’t have a time machine to fast forward to Dec where I get to go to Canada.
Oh man. To me there’s a no go zone…. never ask anyone if they want, wish, wish they didn’t etc, about kids. Unless it’s your partner. Such a personal thing, and you just don’t know what is going on for that person. Leave it alone. It might be someone’s entire joy, or it might be their entire pain.
My beef is illegal u-turns across double lines. How stupid is that.
