Chelsea is buying so many players again…I actually like it when it happens because it means there is more good players like Sturridge around who are good players in a Chelsea squad, not getting game time and who are happy to move somewhere else to get game time.
I’ve said it before, but I hope Schurrle gets good gametime again this year, especially up front where he’s at his best. Costa is in the mix now so I’m worried he’ll be on the fringes this season…but Eto’o is gone, so there might be some room. Otherwise I hope he moves to somewhere he can make more of an impact. Horribly underrated player.
It’s hard to admit as a United fan, but I love Chelsea’s side. Oscar, Hazard, Willian and now Fabregas are some of my favourite players. If they can sign a couple of defenders this year they’ll be looking good. Gotta admit I’ve always liked Gary Cahill for some reason too.
Fabregas to Chelsea? Such a quality player.

You bet! Signed for roughly £26m which I think is a quality deal for Chelsea. A more than worthy replacement for Frank Lampard.
Yeah a great signing, plus it gets right up those Gooners!! My Arsenal mates are spewin haha
He was probably the best player in the EPL when he left Arsenal. It’s crazy how he struggled to even make the starting lineup for Spain and Barcelona.

He started in almost every game at Barcelona, he was just often subbed off tactically toward the end of their matches. Quick google tells me he started in 81 games across three seasons. He was definitely a pretty important player down there, but he never really hit his peak. Can’t wait to see him back in England.
Some bad news for United today too with Michael Carrick ruled out for 10-12 weeks with an ankle injury. All of a sudden our central midfield looks vulnerable. I’m very interested to see what LVG does with this, especially knowing he’s a big fan of Carrick. Does Cleverley come back in to an important role? Fellaini? Maybe throw Januzaj into a more central spot like he played at the academy?

Was he starting when he first went to Barca? I can’t say I’ve watched many Barca games to be honest. Maybe it was because he wasn’t starting for Spain and their midfield is basically Barca’s, I made that assumption.

Yeah, a fair assumption if you don’t follow La Liga. Barcelona have had a stacked midfield for a long time now for sure. I think with Xavi’s international retirement we’ll see Fabregas regularly back in the starting lineup again.
Here are all the goals from the young socceroos game. Take note of Awer Mabil’s free kick, the 3rd goal in particular that started the come back from 4-2 down.
So good to see the young boys playing well.

Phillip Lahm has announced his shock retirement from the German international team at age 30. This is definitely a shock! A true legend for Germany, and he showed it again in the world cup that just passed. I don’t think anyone saw this coming.

That free kick was perfect…I’m definitely liking the look of this Mabil guy.
Looks like James is almost certainly off to Madrid. Kroos and James behind Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo…I’m going to literally go mad waiting for the season to kick off!
Evra has signed for Juventus.
What’s up guys? Just thought I’d come in for a quick update.
The Premier League season begins TONIGHT at 9:45pm Sydney time! How quickly did that come around? Having the World Cup during the off-season definitely helped to ease the pain. We’ve got the mighty and (thankfully) Moyes-less Manchester United kicking things off against Swansea City in the season opener. Get keen!
The afternoon matches will be in the usual midnight timeslot, with the full fixture list here. Pick of the midnight matches for mine would be Leicester vs Everton — always good to see what newly promoted teams can do, especially up against some relatively tough opposition. Are Everton good enough to push for a top 4 spot? Southampton also play Southampton B, uh, Liverpool, on Sunday night when Lovren, Lallana and Lambert all potentially line up against their former side, provided Lallana recovers in time from a recent injury. Those would be my three picks of the week.
12 hours until kickoff!
Man UTD lost, i can go to bed a happy man.
