Since then I have worn it everyday this season,  and the girlfriend has decided she will too after watching that one ha ha!

Bought a couple of Sandbox helmets for myself after riding for a while without one, and for my girlfriend as it was her first time on a snowboard. Definitely saved both our skulls a few times when in New Zealand, she had a lot more confidence with hers on, especially around other people. Helped me progress in the park a lot more too.

I ended up making her wear it even when carrying her board as the amount of times she hit herself in the head with it was too much to bear haha!

thinking about getting one soon, but I have a huge melon so the few that I have tried make me look like a bobblehead. I’m not normally one to care about style over safety but it really looked ridiculous. Might have to try on a sandbox and see how that looks

I’m the same, thought mine looked a bit dorky in the shop (finding hats or beanies is a struggle for me too, having a small head) but chuck some goggles on and your snow gear and it looks normal!

My sister has teased me mercilessly since i got one over 10 years ago.

After last weeks incident I spoke to my mum about putting the hard word/guilts onto my sister.

I forgot all about it til family ski day on Saturday and my sister arrived on snow with my spare helmet in hand.

I raised my eyebrows at her and she said “Mum told me I wasn’t allowed to come and ski without one”

LOL

(which is exactly what my sister said to her own son! )

She wore it all day without complaint! It fit her better than me and it worked with her goggles. Best thing was the sneaky BW sticker which is on it!

No matter what helmet you try on it’ll seem pretty dorky to you!!!!!

I think the main reason is that ya just not used to wearin one, so it will never look “normal” at first!!!!!

Give it a while and it’ll be the reverse!!!!!

* I too suffer from “Watermelon Head”!!!!! LOL

Haha she’s quite the clumsy type sometimes, but picked up snowboarding like a champ! A helmet definitely improved confidence in both of us - she was more worried about people hitting her, and thats the only way she really got hurt, and me more so in knowing she’d be safe. Highly recommend if you are going to leave your partner and go off on a solo run or two.

I reckon the Schumacher story has highlighted the helmet issue a bit more, and that might be why more people are wearing helmets - in fact before the snow season my nervous parents gave me some cash specifically for a helmet. I used to be “helmets are lame”, and didn’t wear one on a school snow trip, but as you get older you start to think a bit more - plus helmets are much better designed these days and are pretty baller. Now I reckon helmets are the coolest!

Maybe if we keep posting this pic Jez will reduce the auto image size of portrait photos!

All jokes aside, Jez was a cute lad when he was a grommet.
