Australian Slopestyle Tour 2014 kicks off August 25th with The Mile High by Carlton Dry
Australia has never hosted a stronger field of international Snowboarders and Freeskiers as the AST (Australian Slopestyle Tour) is in 2014. Currently 8 of the World’s top 10 male snowboarders and some of the biggest names in womens snowboarding and mens Freeskiing have confirmed including Australia’s own Olympians Torah Bright (Snowboard), Scotty James (Snowboard) and Russ Henshaw (Freeski).
With a total potential prize pool of $88,000 including the newly created Carlton Dry Double Down (bonus prize for winning both AST events), amazing snow conditions and the strongest competitor field ever in Australia this year’s tour will be one to watch.
The AST comprises of the two International level World Snowboard Tour events of The Mile High by Carlton Dry in Perisher NSW and Stylewars in Falls Creek VIC. The new World Snowboard Tour format for 2014 / 2015 puts both AST events at International level of sanctioning making the AST a fundamental component of the World Snowboard Tour and ensuring a fantastic future for top level international snowboard and freeski events in Australia.
Confirmed snowboard international athletes from the World’s Top 10 men include Stale Sandbech (NOR), Maxence Parrot (CAN), Sven Thorgren (SWE), Erik Willett (US), Sebasien Toutant (CAN), Chas Guldemond (US) Torstein Horgmo (NOR) and Torgeir Bergrem and from the women, Olympic gold medalist and undisputed best female slopestyle competitor of the current generation Jamie Anderson (US), Silje Norendal (NOR) and Jenny Jones (GB) and our own Torah Bright (AUS). The freeski division of The Mile High the field is growing daily with Russ Henshaw (AUS) and PK Hunder (NOR) both returning in 2014.
Registrations for both AST events close on the 10th August 2014 and final rider list will be published on the registration link at http://www.australianslopestyletour.com
“The Mile high is like the perfect session, gift wrapped in a contest setting just the way the riders like it. The riders shred until they feel like the can really throw down and get a scored run on demand; that promotes both progression and style. A truly unique event and one of the best in the industry.” Torstein Horgmo 3 times X-Games Gold Medalist
“Stylewars is one of the coolest contests for sure! The format, the crowd and the party make everything for the riders to have a blast and for the people watching.” Sebastien Toutant 2013 World Big Air Champion / 2012 World Slopestyle Champion

wow, I wouldn’t have thought that there would be so many great riders coming to Australia for competitions, will have to make my way down to one of these to watch, I’ve seen some good riders in the park, but I’d imagine what you’d see watching either of these comps would make your brain explode out of an overload of epicness.

It’s gunna be awesome just to ride in the same park as these guys!

THE MILE HIGH BY CARLTON DRY
The Australian Slopestyle tour kicks off today, Monday 25th August, with the first day of action of The Mile High By Carlton Dry at Perisher, NSW.
From 25 to 27 August, Perisher’s custom-built Front Valley terrain park will see the strongest-ever field of international winter sports competitors take on Australia’s best male and female riders. Both snowboarders and freeskiers will be competing for the Carlton Dry cash, and all-important World Tour ranking points.
The two events of The Australian Slopestyle Tour (“AST”) have just been officially announced as International (rating) sanctioned events of The World Snowboarding Tour, giving them equal status to just one other contests in the Southern Hemisphere, and attracting the best lineup of snowboarders ever assembled in Australia. The AST comprises The Mile High By Carlton Dry at Perisher, and Stylewars at Falls Creek, Victoria.
Two Olympic gold medalists will be in action on Monday 25 August as Jamie Anderson (US Snowboard) competes for a place in the Women’s Slopestyle Qualifiers and Joss Christensen (US Freeski) aims to take out the Freeski Slopestyle Finals.
Tuesday 26 August will be a historic day for snowboarding in Australia as the strongest field of snowboarders ever assembled in this country compete for just 20 spaces available for Wednesday’s Men’s Slopestyle Finals. The 80 competitors in Tuesday’s Men’s Slopestyle Qualifiers are led by current world number-one, Stale Sandbech (NOR), and backed up by 16 of the current world top-20-ranked slopestyle snowboarders, and the best Australian riders.
Australia’s top-ranked snowboarder is Scotty James who returns home after a stellar season overseas, including competing in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games and Winter X Games. Hopefully Scotty can take revenge on the internationals and make the podium on Wednesday.
Cameron Staveley (AUS)
Stale Sandbech (NOR) and Silje Norendal (NOR)
The list of riders is insane! I hope this becomes a staple and we can continue to attract all of these big names to Oz. Awesome to see Boardworld as an official media partner too!
Who do you think is the favourite to win it? Such a heavy lineup…will definitely be interesting to see what happens.

Sick edit and interviews.
Would be sick to watch the content in person. Looking forward to the full thing
Top content, love this stuff. I heard the competition (mens qualies) was postponed due to bad weather. Anyone got any more details?
