I feel your pain.

in 2000 I booked a week in NZ with a friend. Snow was terrible and Aussie conditions were amazing!

It was when I decided to stop knocking Aussie snow, all these people who say “I never bother with Aus” I just don’t get it.

At least you can pick and choose when you go.

Don’t get me wrong OS trips are still on the cards but I don’t sink all my funds into them, they are just a bonus!

I wouldn’t get too upset. I actually found it invigorating to have a holiday not based around the snow (knowing there would be plenty when I got home) NZ is such a stunning varying place don’t limit yourself to Queenstown, have a flexible itinerary don’t pre purchase any lift passes or accommodation and go exploring!

well for me living in Brisbane now this is all the snow I get so it is meant to be a snow holiday!
I understand what you mean and I know that even if there is no snow there is plenty to see and do, but after seeing the snow they got last year it just sucks that it might not be the same again this time around!! But that is the nature of the snow beast and us Aussies should be pretty used to it by now you’d think haha.. as long as I get a few days riding in I don’t mind

We drove down the north island for a week last year and spent some time traveling the south island. I agree it is stunning but this trip was supposed to be our snow trip since last year was our adventuring trip :’(

Will do!

The plan for tomorrow looks like this so far;

1. Arrive in Queenstown at 2pm
2. Go to Fergburger
3. Go to Fergbaker
4. Get keys to apartment and collapse in food coma

Can’t think of a better start to the holiday tbh!

View from the top of the new curvey basin chair at the remarkables. Snow is nowhere near as good as last year but plenty of cover still. Had an awesome first day though.

Nice, more importantly what did you get from fergbaker and how was it? Think I made it through 2/3rds of the menu before I had to leave. Has left me with a terrible dessert habit that I’ve been trying to kick since being home!

We actually went to fergbaker today, tried the beef cheek pie this time, it was pretty epic! Haven’t had any desserts this time yet but I had a chocolate tart thing last time and it was unbelievable!

Yesterday we got fergburger. Went with the “chief wiggum”, pork belly with crackle, hash brown, lettuce, tomato, red onion and plum/seeded mustard sauce. Best burger ever!

so the coverage is ok at Remarks? Is it icy? plenty of runs open?

Everything is open, and you’ll be happy to hear there was 10cm fresh snow last night and no signs of it letting up today. So much powder!!!!

To be honest I didn’t get what all the fuss was about with fergburger I gave it a fair crack as well! Had some pretty sensational meals elsewhere though so food was definitely enjoyable over there.

Fergbaker on the other hand became my daily dessert go to the apple pie, berry pie and lemon meringue were my favs. On the savoury side the pork belly and the venison pies we’re delicious as well (though not the best pies I had while in NZ)

Good to hear you’re getting a little bit of snow over there.
