For me the only function of your stance width and angles (apart from looking uber G (or something)) is to allow you to bend your knee and ankle joints as much a possible.  The more you can bend these joints the easier you’ll find riding (especially on bumpy terrain) and as a bonus it’ll look better too.

The way I do it is to stand behind my board with my snowboard boots on and find a comfortable position where I can flex down low.  I then line up the bindings on the board in exactly the same position as my feet (width and angles).

Then just screw them in tight and skate to the chair.
