Thank you… I don’t know how wide my stance will be and I assume my bindings will be at 15 and 0. So a 255 / 258 would be ok for that?,
Last question is on board style, camber, flat, rocker.. Any advice, and depending on the board style do I go longer or shorter, eg I hear some people say depending on the board shape you can go up/ down by up to 10 cm, one person wanted to get me I into a 166. They also said older boards had different tech so different lengths..
What would a new board cost out of interest through you.. With / without bindings, something that would suit me and allow some growth , thanks for all your help. 
You’re 6’2 so I would suggest you have a stance width of at least 23”. That’s not super narrow or wide for your height, so it’s a good starting point.

Gotta be careful with old boards as they do lose “pop” as the wood core ages!!!!!
The YES Basic has got an extruded base so it’ll take the knocks and lack of maintenance that we all experienced when startin out!!!!!
And don’t stick with a set stance either, the adjustability is there to be played with!!!!! Let loose!!!!!

So given the yes basic is a good option, what bindings would you suggest. The yes s probably gonna be out of my budget, and I’m now looking at a 158w forum image that is used but mint condition. Only ridden a couple of times, budget will dictate though.. But bindings I will need either way, what would be suitable, ... And are snowboarding socks more of a gimmick or can wear the same type I use with my gumboots ( bunnings specials 
)

I’d go a mid flex binding seein as you’re mainly gonna be ridin groomers etc!!!!!
Plus bein a bigger lad, on a wide board, I’d steer clear of softer flex bindings!!!!!
Somethin like the FLUX TT, or Burton Cartel is the go!!!!! Others will help in regards to other brand suggestions!!!!!
Proper socks are somethin that will make ya day on the hill all that sweeter!!!!!
The Boardworld Socks, sold right here on this site (and I may be wrong, but I think they’re on sale still?????) would have to be the BEST socks I’ve owned so far!!!!!
Don’t use thick socks, and don’t use ones that are made from 100% cotton!!!!!
