Hey everyone I’ve stumbled across this forum doing research for my upcoming working holiday, I’ve had a quick read through a few threads and everyone seems awesome and willing to help out.
I have the majority of things together judging by the general consensus, I just wanted to know how long it will take to set up the SIN and bank accounts once I enter Canada. I will be arriving in Vancouver on the 23rd of September and want to make it to the job fair on the 26th, so basically wanting to know if it will all have to be confirmed or as long as I have applied I will be fine??
I know this is more of a general each to their own sort of question but I was wanting to know what are the best or more popular jobs to apply for at the job fair? Anyone who has been to one before willing to give a rough rundown of how it will all go down at the job fair? High odds of landing a job?
Sorry if these questions get asked a lot I haven’t gone through much of the forum.
Looking forward to getting out there and giving it my best, Thanks people
Is there any thread for the winter season for 14/15 going around atm?
Seems like all the buzz was for last season, looking to get involved and get to know a few people on the boards before I head out.
Hold on Al, it’s the weekend and they’re a bit slow around here when the alcohol kicks in!!!!!
Welcome to Boardworld, and you’ve def come to the right place for Whistler Action!!!!!
SIN - easily done within 30mins
Bank Account - This will vary based on the branch, some will be able to sign you up on the spot, others you have to make an appointment, just depends how busy they are at the time.
Thanks for the responses a bit more of a dig through these forums has answered a lot of questions for me.
For now i’m gonna hang tight and try stay active on these forums while the vibe for the coming season starts picking up. Seems like it could be a big benefit for everyone that decides to get in touch through these boards.
Can’t wait to start turning this dream into a reality!!

which bank would you suggest using?
Would all depend on where you are looking to set yourself up with accommodation, and what branches will be available to you near that location?
im going to aim to set up in creekside
Not sure if there are any banks in Creekside?????
Bar Dusty’s, there’s not really much in that part of the woods!!!!! Except for Bears, and Jeremys!!!!!
A quick look and there is a bank!!!!!
Bank of Nova Scotia!!!!!

Noooooo! Creekside is of the devil and old timers. You want Brio or Whistler Kay or the middle of the village. RBC and TD banks are both in the village Scotia bank is in Creekside so any of them are a good choice..
Yew!! Can’t wait for everyone to come and shred!! Questions are awesome!

**snort**
Question though - is Brio only staff accom?
No there are heaps of private housing options here. I’m in staff mainly cause it’s cheap and year round for us..

Good idea. Welcome to Boardworld, mate!
Stick around and I’ll probably see you in Whistler.
For banks…
TD Canada Trust and RBC are the two main banks and both have branches in the village. Scotiabank has a branch in Creekside.
I’ve had accounts with RBC in the past and TD Canada Trust currently. I’ve been super happy with TD. They are great and I’ve had no issues whatsoever.

Haha, what don’t you like about Creekside? I’ve lived on the Creekside side of things for the last 5 seasons I’ve done over there and I’ve always been happy there. It’s my hood.
That said, I think we’re looking for a change this season. We’re going to look for a place closer to the village.
