and Monday’s at The Man are mental :D also their theme parties are pretty good if they still do them?
Mondays at the Man…??? I don’t remember them Tuesday mornings at the Man were full of mental failure. haha
Tuesdays on the hill don’t get busy until well after lunch because so many staff are sleeping it off.
I’ve tried to avoid the mental mondays at the man on many occasion but seem to always end up there and loose times, lost memories… my phone has many numbers of people I don’t know and a few strange fb friends because of Man <strike>Mondays</strike> tuesday mornings.
Perisher, Australia’s biggest ski resort, has kicked off the launch of the Australian snow season by being the first resort to offer guests skiing and boarding this June long weekend.
With temperatures reaching a chilly -4 degrees overnight, the snow-making crew had 95 snowmaking guns blazing, making over 8,000 cubic metres of snow across 3 of Perisher’s 4 resort areas, Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes and Blue Cow.
The only thing cooler than the temperatures in Perisher has been the music at the Peak Festival, Australia’s coolest music festival featuring over 130 acts across the weekend culminating with The Herd playing on Sunday night.
Beginner skiers and boarders enjoyed lessons on a groomed area on Front Valley, while the Perisher Valley Quad Chair was open, free to all foot passengers to enjoy the scenery from the top of Australia.
.... on a groomed area ...
Well I don’t know about anyone else but I had a great weekend!
Friday night was long with an unplanned detour….
But Saturday was a fun day. I even strapped on a board (see my fb for evidence!).
Saturday night was what is now becoming an annual opening weekend dinner at CasaOz.
OzMum out did herself as usual!
The group then headed down to Banjo’s for the world premiere of There Goes.
I bailed straight after the viewing as I had another long day to look forward to on Sunday.
On Sunday I headed up the hill alone. I will post photos later but it was snowing at Wilson Valley and there was patches of snow covered roads. It snowed on and off all day on the hill (more on than off and there was never any clear stuff)
The snow brought the crowds and Front Valley was significantly busier on Sunday than Saturday even though the weather was foul!
Sunday night a couple of us headed to Beach Burrito Co for our first dinner of the season. Dylan and Dan had been on the drink for most of the day and everyone was tucked up in bed by 9.30pm!
Went home via Rhythm on Monday and purchased a new helmet.
Not sure when i will be down next as I had penciled in the 4th July but I didn’t realise it was the middle weekend of the school hols so I think i will decide a bit closer to the day if I brave the crowds or not.
.... on a groomed area ...
Don’t shoot the messenger.
Should have had the intern (boxhead) post.
Did they actually run a groomer over those patches of snow?
Now that would be something worth laughing at.
A friend of mine will be doing his first season as a lifty at BlueCow - he hasn’t even been given a start date yet, or accom details.
They even groomed the park side..
There’s not much there, but I certainly had a great day riding today. Although, I was drunk riding this morning and cought an edge trying FS boardy and almost knocked myself out.. That and most of our crew where out trying to learn, rather funny to watch.
Oz girl so sorry we couldn’t get involved in opening weekend festivities, we arrived Thursday night late and fri, sat and sun did 12 hour days at our new job! Talk about baptism of fire. Just went on a silly shopping spree for new boots (had to order in for me as I’m a 22.5 and didn’t want kids boots…ridiculous!) goggles and the such like, made me feel better after the hectic first few days. We’re heading up to perisher tomorrow to just play in the baby park and see snow for the first time this year.
To anyone hanging out full time would love a message if there’s some social stuff going on, need to get our faces out there looking forward to meeting you properly next time you’re down….and anyone who’s going to be a park rat on the weekdays!
Some photos
Sunday Snow
Good start at Mid Station on the snow making
Snow off on the main range. I hiked up/out the back of the Quad
How cute is this guy!
Looks like my kind of person.
Sooo perisher had a good night last night.. Raining here in jindy most of the night, and wake up to this!!
Super stoked! Even smiggs is white!! Lets hope there is enough to hang around! (they are saying 15cm)
They had the v8 running and chairs on it, sent a few staff up, but they packed it back up, because its too warm at the top.. Lets hope it cools down again soon!
V8 was open and running late this arvo.
Very patchy.. Quiet a few riders heading up tho.
Guns are blazing again tonight.
Forecast is showing minus 5 - 1 degrees for tomoro with snowfall or the next few days.
Stay tuned for more live, up to date updates.
