Really I don’t mind which job I get was mainly saying lifty just for the fact of working for the mountain but your right I’d be more than happy with anything I could get.. Also like what you said about full/part time definitely going to try get the full time…

Have decided today that am going to go out on the limb and risk it at the job fair and see what I can get! Looking into flights to hopefully be all booked by tonight! Not really too bad seeing a lot of one ways for around $900 Aussie! Getting keener now!

General plan at the moment is to fly in on the 25th of October and race around to setup SIN and Bank Account and Phone in Vancouver staying in a hostel then get my ass up to whistler for the job fair on the 31st! Im guessing theres hostels to stay up there while waiting for job verdicts.. and probably end up living until get a job I spose. Also re: new gear I know this has probably been asked loads but should I buy new snow stuff in van or wait until get discounts for working with the mountain and buy on whistler…

For sure, dude. Stick around. Lots of us will be in Whistler next season. We run a blog on here during the season too. Stick around and let’s catch up in Whistler for beers and a shred. Happy to show you around the mountain (lots of good spots to explore if you know where wink). We are here to help.

For what it’s worth, I think you’re making the right decision. Get all your shit sorted, get there with a positive attitude and nail it at the job fair. I’m sure you will be fine. Keep your options option; take what they give you and better opportunities will often present themselves. FYI even my friends who worked serving at Dusty’s etc., had an awesome time working there.

In regards to buying gear… two main options… buy gear on sale here at the end of the season AND get your tax back at the airport via the Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS). Honestly, it often works out cheaper this way and some brands are a year ahead in Aus, so it will be same gear sold in Canada. Otherwise, yeah, I would wait until you’re in Whistler. There’s a lot of good stores worth exploring. Feel free to hit me up on PM if there’s anything we can help you with via our store.

Cheers for all the info yeah whatever happens sure it will all work out if even ended up working elsewhere, Didnt think of that with the TRS that could make it worthwhile buying here it that case, ah well loads to think about in the next few months!

Not too long for the countdown now!!
