The BOARDWORLD Forums ran from 2009 to 2021 and are now closed and viewable here as an archive
hey guys, new to the forums. Just had this company show up in my facebook feed as a sponsored result, anyone know who they are? They seem to just be starting out this year not much info yet.
nope but my suspicious nature leads me to believe that you do.
I think the logo is kind of ok, but they have now taken top spot in my worst board graphics ever ladder!!
nope - looks pretty average
Then I had a look at the website - it looks like an IT project I did in year 7 - aka rubbish
^ This.
Got to start some where.
I like the micro snowboard businesses that start up. I bet Fyve and Yuki were exactly the same at the start.

I don’t know the brand but I received a Facebook page invite yesterday.
I agree with bkrtron though. Everything has a beginning — that was actually the slogan Boardworld used before we even launched the website. We had a register your interest page with that slogan and we certainly came from humble beginnings as well. I also remember FYVE’s website many years ago when they were starting out, and to be honest, I didn’t think much of the brand. Every startup takes time and a lot of hard work.
Anyway, I’ve checked the website. Can’t say I like the look of any of the boards but I’d definitely like to know more about the brand, more about the boards, and more about the tech. I couldn’t really find any info on the site. So if you know the brand or the owners, invite them on here and maybe they can tell us a bit more. I’m curious at least.
Hey Boarder2750,
I actually quite like the idea of the blank board. Just like a blank skateboard deck, and I think it looks kinda cool in a minimalist way too.
Some friendly advice (to the person you don’t know who runs the company). For me to buy one of these boards, I would need to see the specs (meaning the dimensions not just tech). I have to, at the very least, know if the board is the right width for my boot size.
The more specs a company puts on it’s website, the more likely I am to buy a board from them because I can be sure it’s exactly what I need.
Good luck with it man. And keep making regular camber boards, I love that!!!
not me man, to be honest I’d never heard of this site. Just followed some clues, went to their facebook, their twitter (it only has 10 followers one being this site) so i thought i’d see if you guys knew anything.
Welcome to Boardworld, Boarder2750.
Out of interest to see what the sponsored linking on facebook would be costing this ....company, which turns out to be a lot less than i thought it would, the following were my suggested “interests”
not sure what that says about me
A simple man with fine taste in fashion, food, and leisure activities…
Hey that’s me!
Thanks for not being too negative! That’s a start
As a couple of you said we have to start somewhere. I started with the blank then got one of my friends along to help out with some of the other designs. I know they’re not going to be everyone’s cup of tea(part of the reason I decided to start this was I hated all the boards that were on offer a few seasons ago). I was thinking man it would be awesome if I could get a blank deck like I do with skateboards. I couldn’t find any so I was like fuck it i’ll do it myself. The factory I’m working with has been making boards for 15 years.
The website, its all about money mainly. If you can build me a better site, quote me I’d love to see what you can do for us. It came down to the decision we could spend $$$$ on getting a kick ass site but then we’d have less money for boards and other stuff.
The tech is coming. What would you like to see specifically? I have a bunch more info and its coming along with proper photos of the boards. We still work full time so we’re trying to get the time to get this all done. It will be here hopefully this weekend. We’re also going to do some videos showing you the boards and specs etc.
The ads cost us fuck all, we thought we’d give it a try and see how it goes…google advertising on the other hand…
I’d really like to get a lot of feedback, we are working on next years designs and would really like to know what you guys would like to see. We’ve picked up a couple more designers as well.
if boarder2750 wants to email me (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) i’ll send out some stickers or if anyone else has some questions hit me up.
If you want to give us a like, follow what ever we’re more than greatful.
That’s pretty much my life story guys.
nope but my suspicious nature leads me to believe that you do
Turns out you weren’t wrong. Just found out this is actually a friend of mine trying to help a brother out. Same friend who told me about this thread.
I think it’s only fitting that the person behind this new brand just happens to be an old school Boardworld member.
Good to hear you’re doing you’re own thing, Kynee. Best of luck with it all and keep us posted.
I would like to see info on:

materials used (core, base etc.)

specs, shapes, flex, and sizing

camber profiles

That’s what friends are for.
Well im glad we’ve gotten to the truth of the matter and that my spidey senses were right haha!! I meant no offense by what i originally wrote, think of it more as constructive criticism as honestly dude, besides the blank, those graphics are not good. You could have the most awesome tech in the world in those boards, but as much as people are kidding themselves when they say that the graphics doesnt really effect their decision making when it comes to board buying, it does and I really think you’d be hard pressed to sell them UNLESS your price point is killer.
Your logo is actually pretty good, do more with that (but not just a wallpaper like the dino board), and even if it offends your ‘designers’, you need to review and edit those designs or spends the bucks on someone who can actually give you something that will sell which will end up paying for itself in the end, you know the old adage, gotta spend money to make money. Like it was mentioned before, at the moment they look like a highschool art project rather than a serious board company. Your website has promise, its basic but if you just added the tech for the boards, it would be a whole bunch better.
Also have a look at the last 2 years of Fyve & BW board design comps on here, some of the stuff that came out is epic, you could even approach some of them for designs. Or run your own similar comp, where the prize is a board with the winning design BUT put in the terms that you have the rights to the design and use that on a range. Your only cost for a rad design then is 1 snowboard.
I hope hearing some truths, be it harsh, will set you on the path of success rather than being just another failed business venture that hasnt been thought out properly from the beginning.
Where do i get off saying all this you may ask, well Im a graphic designer by trade, sure some may question my abilities as well BUT I like to think that after nearly 15 years of doing it i know about what looks good.
Anyhow i wish you all the best with it!
