Avatar

Im looking into buying a car/van/pickup when i come over next year and im wondering what kind of after buy costs im looking at
Australia has your rego transfer fee, rego, greenslip, insurance, ect. all that kind of stuff.

Also whats the go with buying in USA and transferring to CA?
Is it difficult?
Is it expensive?
Is it worth it or should i just wait till i get to Vancouver?

Fuel Prices?

If you buy from out of Province (BC) or USA then you have to have it inspected ( like a blue slip) but if you do what i did , buy in bc then all you have to do is pay “rego” transfer fee and your away. No inspections ever. “rego” for a year cost me 1000 pretty much,

ill just have to find a mechanic to do a pre purchase inspection… LOL

I thought you had to run it over the pit and have an emissions test once a year in BC as part as your rego? i.e, if you don’t pass, no rego.

Nope that was Air Care which i believe was a Vancouver only thing and its being ruled out.

Also if you can buy from Vancouver, far less rust in cars from there compared to buying a beat up rusty whistler car/truck which will have been on salty roads all winter. You can get the underside of you car sprayed down in squamish for ~$150 from memory which slows down the rusting process.
