BOARD AGAINST BRAIN CANCER DAY

When: Saturday 30th August 2014
Where: Thredbo Resort
How Much: $45.00

Get a group of your mates together for a fun day boarding while raising money for brain cancer.

The 3rd Annual ʻBoard ABC Dayʼ will take place at Thredbo this year where participants will ʻBoard Against Brain Cancerʼ (Board ABC).

Many people are still unaware that brain cancer is one of the most lethal yet understudied of all cancers. It is the leading cancer killer for young people under age 39 and children under 10, yet receives very little research funding. This event is in association with the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.

This year the format will include an ‘all female’ snowboarding session that offers female riders a chance to unite and ride in a non-intimidating environment, with a bunch of girls. Participants will be coached by some of Australiaʼs top female snowboarders, as well as professional snowboard instructors.

There will also be an ʻall maleʼ Jumping Workshop. This will cater to riders who can already ride the terrain parks and want to improve their jumping and spinning. Participants will be coached by some of Australiaʼs best male snowboarders. They will have the opportunity to obtain personal feedback in a casual environment.

Proceeds from the day will be donated to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. Cure Brain Cancer Foundation is driving the national research agenda for brain cancer. As the largest dedicated fundraiser for brain cancer research in Australia, they mobilise communities, advocate to government and raise awareness. Their mission is to increase five-year survival to 50% within 10 years.

Come and be involved in a FUN day for a GREAT CAUSE.

INCLUSIONS

- All female and all male coaching sessions lead by professional snowboard instructors and sponsored/competitive snowboarders
- Presentation with plenty of prizes to be awarded to participants
- UNITED WE RIDE for Awareness of Brain Cancer. All participants wearing their Board ABC singlets will ride as a group from the top to the bottom of the mountain.
- BOARD ABC singlet

For more details: http://www.facebook.com/boardabc.day
To purchase tickets: boardabc(at)hotmail.com

Please note, this event is not for beginner snowboarders. It is a chance for riders to improve their riding, with a focus on freestyle.

All this snow needs to pack into a base down low.

Up high would be nice but there would be some nasties under the snow - rock hopper might be a smart option.

REKORDERLIG IS SET TO EXHILARATE THREDBO THIS SNOW SEASON - DON’T MISS THE BIGGEST AND THE BEST WEEKEND FROM SATURDAY 13TH TO SUNDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER 2014

The snow season at Thredbo has really kicked into gear with masses of fresh snowfall in the past 7 days, and we’ve got some exciting details to share with you about Rekorderlig’s extraordinary weekend of sports, Cider drinking and a secret music gig on Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of September.

Already we’ve seen snow enthusiasts loving Rekorderlig’s unrivalled après experience at Thredbo Alpine Hotel. Lounging by fire pits and in hot pools with a warm Winter Cider in hand is the perfect way to end a great day on the slopes every Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoon from 3pm-6pm.

This year the Toyota One Hit Wonder Big Air is back from Monday 8th September until Sunday the 14th for a week of the best Big Air Skiing in Australia. The world’s best skiers will battle it out on the biggest jump in Australia and the only gold ranked AFP (Association of Freeskiing Professionals) Big Air event in the Southern Hemisphere - a show that can’t be missed!

Want more? Rekorderlig will also be hosting a Winter Forest Picnic for a group of lucky winners from Rekorderlig’s Facebook app competition on Saturday, 13th September. These fortuitous guests will enjoy a four course dinner menu created from Swedish inspired winter comfort food recipes and matched with a variety of Rekorderlig’s delicious flavours. The picnic will take place under the trees on the green of the golf course amidst the breathtaking Alpine scenery and views of the lodges in Thredbo village. The table for six will be decorated with wooden menus, ambient lighting, beautiful flower centrepieces and cosy Rekorderlig winter blankets. Further details on how to enter will be released from the week starting Monday, 7th July at https://www.facebook.com/Rekorderlig.Cider .

A major highlight during the fantastic weekend is the Rekorderlig’s Secret Gig. Rekorderlig has proven it brings the biggest names in music to Thredbo featuring phenomenal acts last year including Bloc Party DJ and Hermitude.  This year’s act will be no exception. Whilst we won’t give the name away just yet, you can expect a highly anticipated and exciting performance to take place on the mountain on Saturday, 13th of September. Details and clues will be announced on Rekorderlig’s Facebook page in the lead up to the fun weekend.
