Backpacking Europe during summer 2015. But we will be back in Whistler for winter 2015/16.
Yeah, I should still be here. Been a long time since I last rode with you, can’t waiitttt.
Awesome, Rico. I thought you were going back home?
We will also be there next season as well, 2014/15, so I will see you soon!
I was planning to go back home this january, but got a job so I’m staying here at least until may work permit expires in June 2015.
Great, I’ll see you over there!
Demo day is on this sat and sunday and also next sat and sun right?
Its official, I will be in Canada before 9th of April next year only took two days for my visa to get approved

Yep - both weekends. Was god to see you the other day. Sorry I lost you heading back to the demo tents.

Great to hear buddy, looking forward to seeing you out here.
Now that March is finally over I suppose I can sit down and try and regather my thoughts after losing my mind out in the woods the past month and a half.
Once that snow came back I did just about nothing except lap Whistler. Found a few new zones which was great but I definitely did spend a lot of time in some favourites as they’re just some of the best places I know, not to mention I know when they’re good and it’s just too hard to say no to good snow. Josh, a friend of mine that I’ve ridden with for a while always says he can never leave good snow in order to gamble on another area and this definitely crossed my mind a few times when I contemplated going elsewhere after having already found great snow.
Found an all new area of Flute bowl which was mind-blowing and I managed to get one of my best vide stills out there. I definitely spent a lot more time out that way this year as it always provided some great windblown stashes.
Did a short edit a little while back that basically summed up March for me. I’ve got a little more footage that I took but haven’t really looked through it yet, if theres anything there worth sharing I’ll try and throw together another short edit. Until then heres the one I did beforehand.
Quite happy with the way the seasons gone in the end. I’ve managed to tick off a few things that I’d been wanting to do this season in the past 2 weeks which was great as the snow completely turned over the past week with the sun coming out and the freezing level shooting up above the top of both mountains. Theres still one on there that I would have liked to get this year but unfortunately I’ll have to leave it until next season as my season is done for the year.
Finally attempted frontside spinning off the North Flute cornice which felt amazing.. over-rotated the FS360 I was going for and just sunk into the landing so didn’t ride out unfortunately but I’ll be trying these a lot more in the future, just an awesome feeling spinning off a 10-15ft drop - Just found video of it in my mate Nick’s season edit at 3:09 - http://vimeo.com/92294440 Video is definitely worth a look start to finish, good mix of park and pow riding
One of my big accomplishments this year was finally hitting the coffin, which is a chute off peak chair - it’s a bit of a small drop into the chute late season and then you just straight-line it out between 2 rock walls into a big open field. One of the best feelings I’ve had and definitely something I’ll be looking to do again next winter.
Another main highlight over the past month was that I was made a Supervisor for Lift Operations which has been fantastic, more responsibility and definitely a bit more mental stimulation which is definitely what I was after. One of the big perks was getting to snowmobile to work everyday, definitely a great way to start and finish the day.
As I’ve mentioned beforehand and some may have seen on my Facebook my season is done for the year. Had a bail on the 1st jump in Whistler park. Lost my speed off the lip and landed heavily on the knuckle. Swelling is still pretty big so I haven’t had a full diagnosis of just how bad the damage to my knee is but it’s looking like it could potentially be a Segond Fracture along with Grade 2 tears in my ACL and maybe MCL. Won’t have a solid answer until the swelling goes down but I’m preparing for the worst which would mean surgery. Fingers crossed for the best possible outcome but just have to go with whatever card I’m dealt. Thankfully have my benefits sorted through work so I should be covered so it just means this summer will hopefully be all about rehab.
As always I’ve got a few photos which are left over so here you go
Salmon steaks on the BBQ at work.
Run down shack off Million Dollar Ridge
Large patrol triggered slide on Shale Slope
Patrol throwing explosives whilst bombing liftees leap off peak chair.
Friends from my first season getting married on Whistler at the start of March
Hey mate,
Great to hear the season was a blast, with a solid month of freshies for you to enjoy all our favourites. Definitely keen to hit The Coffin next season and you’ll have to show me how it’s done. I’ve eyed it for a while but never made the effort to do it. You’ll also definitely have to show me your new spots at Flute Bowl.
Super bummed to hear about your leg/knee. I really hope it’s good news when you get your results, but either way you have a fantastic attitude towards snowboarding and rehab, so I’m sure you’ll be back to shredding powder with me with that big grin on your face in no time. Keep me posted.
Thanks for the update and photos!
@Finney: Yeah, was good too see you too. Ya I realized you were at the YES tent, but I was already strapped and already on the downhill slope so didn’t bother to unstrap and hike up haha.
@rider26: I think Finney’s the new boss in Whistler now Jeremy

Cheers buddy, can’t wait for next winter now. It will be a mission getting there but it’ll be all worth it.
p.s. forget the flute stash, the new VD Trees stash is steeper and deeper. This was on a 14cm day.
