Quick question - as I’ve never flown with snow gear
Just booking flights now - will 20kg luggage be enough if I’m taking all my gear with me??
Eg 1 x snowboard + bindings 1 x pair of boots, all outerwear + gloves goggles helmet etc)
Or would it be safer to take the 25/30/40kg options?
The other question is travel insurance (going to NZ) any companies who specialise or anyone can recommend with snow activities coverage?
Cheers
20KG should be sweet if ya goin for 1-2 weeks!!!!!
Don’t forget that you also have carry on allowance, and also wear ya shoes, a pair of jeans, jacket, etc, and stash as much stuff in ya pockets, and once on the plane ya can offload whatever into ya carry on bag!!!!!
*Just make sure the carrier that ya flyin with doesn’t have a restriction on the number of pieces of luggage, nor a dimension limit!!!!!
There’s some good info on insurance co’s here, mate!!!!! https://www.boardworld.com.au/forums/viewthread/5253/
legend - cheers
I usually carry 2 boards, 2 pairs of boots, 2 pairs of bindings, 2 pairs pants, 2 jackets, several socks, several gloves, several goggles, and maybe a camera or pole or some other random stuff in 1 board bag and it comes out around 20kg.
alot of airlines now allow 2X20kg bags per passenger (thats what I carried to Japan this year) and I had so much spare room I didnt even take carry on
You can also buy a luggage weight from most travel/camping stores, (eg. Kathmandu) its a handle and a hook with a weight gauge in between, you hook the bag onto it and lift the bag off the ground with the handle.. And it tells you the weight
thanks all. booked!
Bro, weigh your luggage for sure! It’s heaps cheaper to book an extra 10kgs online before you go. If you leave til the airport they’ll empty your wallet. My bag for last 10 day trip was 25kgs.
And of course there’s always the old ‘switch-a-rooney’ between the check in and the oversize cage -if you’re quick enough…
