With it all over the news today, while I’m happy to see that whaling will be stopped in the Antarctic, I’m a little bewildered that while we go gangbusters against another country for acts such as these, yet we say nothing about our own practices!!!!! (Governmental Bodies and Activist Groups such as Greenpeace)
We allow Dugong and Sea Turtle to be actively slaughtered, we now cull sharks, and have used nets on our beaches that kill whales, dolphins and turtle amongst countless other marine life!!!!! This is fact!!!!!
Are we hypocrites?????
I’d rather be hippocrates than the hypocrites we seem to be
Aristotle will drink to that!!!!!
Aristotle Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle.
In a way yes we are - although we aren’t killing them for gain or to make money really - the government seems to think culling sharks will make it safer for the general public, so it think it’s a bit different in that respect. Don’t get me wrong though, I am totally disgusted at the shark culling, and it is just as inhumane and wrong as the slaughter of whales by the Japs
Also this lawsuit against the Japanese was started up 4 years ago, I read somewhere today.
Sorry to break up the thread with a serious post!

How very dare you!!!!!!!
Go Aussies Go!!!!!
I have to think that we are somewhat hypocritical. I also wonder about the whole money making issue regarding the killing of the various ocean creatures in our shark nets and culls etc .... Our governments may not be directly making money from these activities but arguably they are making money indirectly because in so doing they are avoiding costs due to litigation which might assert that without these methods (nets etc) they might be accused of not doing “all that could be reasonably expected of them to avoid human deaths in the ocean” I still think there is a money motivation behind these govt policies.
You have to start some where. The whales are a great start to protecting animals and the ocean then you can continue on and try to protect every thing else people want to slaughter for $$$$ I can’t believe Australia got on to the shark cull its bs and its going to effect us even more in the future.
