2014 FYVE JAPAN CAMP

Avatar

So will post a full trip report later.  But had to share this tale of woe.  Last night me and Dylan hit the town, after spending some time drinking in one of the tiny bars in golden gai we decided to goto the hub which is an English pub chain and start smashing down cognac and dry.  Couple of hours later I managed to stir some Japanese guy up who must of taken offense to something I said and is wanting to go outside for a punch up.  I politely declined as I was busy chatting to a cute girl at the time.  Fast forward another few hours and I notice dylans sunnies and hat in different parts of the bar but Dylan is missing…now you guys all told me don’t let him fall in a snowdrift and die….which would have been really hard in Tokyo except it had decided to puke down snow all day and night.  So I walk outside and into the side street and find Dylan passed out in an alley.  fast forward to this morning and Dylan realises his wallet and phone and apartment key are gone and he’s getting the beginning of a black eye….looks like I wasn’t the only one pissing people off rage

Yeah I was stoked when I first read they’d managed to find Golden Gai but everything after that got rather “straya” fairly quickly…

haha don’t think we mentioned the war,  apart from going to the hub we have been going to the smallest bars and out of the way places to eat, pretty much just wandering around back streets all over Tokyo.  Only reason we went to the hub was because I had been told it was one of the easier places to meet local girls.

Well that bit is good to hear. Did you go to Harajuku yesterday being a Sunday? (noticed the Shibuya photo so gathering you were in the area) hope you grabbed a crepe while you were there. There’s also a highly rated place dedicated to Gyoza in the back streets (think I’ve eaten 24 each time I’ve been…)

As you are discovering Tokyo/Japan is an amazing place, amazing enough to not spend all of it in a pub/drunk though! I’ve found it next to impossible to offend a Japanese person so maybe be a little more wary of your actions as visitors to the country or you could have the Yakuza after you before you know it! michelle

If you are enjoying the back streets/food/drink be sure to grab some yakitori or ramen from “Piss Alley” next to Shinjuku station it’s one of my favourite spots over there oozing with atmosphere.
