One of the best days of snowboarding in the mid mountain area. Waited 50 minutes for Crystal Chair to open. Got 1 awesome run at Crystal, and 3 bad-ok runs at crystal and solar coaster area. So glad I rode my fish today, anyone who hasn’t ridden a fish on a deep pow day should try it at least once. It’s a total game changer in my opinion, so much easier to ride pow compared to a twin board (rocker or not).

Heck yeah I’ll be around just booked my return ticket for May!!!

All the snow talk in anticipation for the last few days was totally underselling it. It was a ridiculous amount of snow in 24 hours and then it continued to snow throughout the day too. The lift lines were huge to say the least as those pictures showed but with all the snow that had fallen there was high avalanche risk and high winds that were causing havoc.

So being the lucky duck I am I’ve been working the last 4 days and had the fun job of packing people onto the lifts so they can have the best days of the season so far. I’d never really given that much thought about how busy lifties like Finney work on pow days and now I know. Normally my crew is 4 people working a normal chair lift and a magic carpet but on Saturday we had 7 people including maintenance helping us out for the whole day just clearing snow and keeping the lift turning. Any of those who have been to Whistler know of Wizard Chair which is the only upload point with its base on Blackcomb. Usually its fairly busy with people going up and down but it got a little intense on Saturday.

It stayed like that from 8:15 until about 11 when the queues thinned right out. We had some other issues that didn’t exactly help. The top of Wizard meets another chair Solar Coaster which didn’t get the O.K to load public until about 9:30 so the ques there backed right up to our offload ramp so we had our lift slowed right down to try to ease the congestion once Solar did start loading. All up some people were waiting nearly 90 minutes just to load Wizard in the morning and then had to wait nearly another 90 to get up to peak to peak.

Awesome to be so busy with some many people!

And now on a funnier note from today. One of my mates Dorian works peak to peak gondola which on a nice day can get quite busy. They close earlier than most other lifts because they have to take the gondolas off the line every night and there are big signs around the place that say when it closes and usually its no big deal if someone needs to get to the other mountain they just download to the valley and walks or takes the bus so normally if people get there too late to go over they don’t have a problem. And then there was today..

A skier got so furious today that when he was nicely told after he’d been already been banging on the closed glass door that the lift was closed and he couldn’t go across this way and was given alternate directions to get over there he decided to hit the very big glass window with the metal tip of his pole..

Good times in Whistler!!!

So today was spent all in the park with Andy and some friends. I’m really starting to push myself with jumping . No spin tricks yet but I’m sure with a bit more practice they’ll come First tracks tomorrow then some more of the same again. Whoop Whoop!!!

The temps here are set to rise significantly to +8 on Friday which will be interesting with already low snow levels but we will see what happens!

I dont ski guys.. I’m just the photographer that is addicted to snow. ahha
Don’t worry I can only handle life side ways.. On board or in truck raspberry

On another note MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN WE NEED SNOWWWWWW :’(
I’m officially becoming un motivated and feeling like a spoiled brat who needs conditions to shred.
I guess a few seasons here under the belt will do that to you.
stoked to shred tomorrow.. little tweety bird told me Pete’s in town for a visit so for sure linking up with that gent and Finney in the AM.

Heres a few more from this season thus far for your eye balls pleasure.
Brandywine falls is about 10 min or so south of Whistler.. right off the highway.

And then there is my place of employment Profile Tuning.
They kill it and do everything overnight.. if you ever need something tuned let me know and I can sneak you in for a deal.
Door to door pick up and drop off by request.

Shred on

Speaking of Ty, for anyone in whistler that doesn’t have him on fb, some yank stole his orange DC PLY 2015 with purple switchback bindings, so keep an eye peeled. It’s such a low act
He is offering a reward for return of board and jar of blood, so get to it!  LOL
