Yeah, but I’ll never look at brownies quite the same again!!!!!
Hey all, sorry for the delay on my updates, it’s been super busy here and the snow has been too good for me to take time off! Today was officially my first ever Christmas away from home and my first white Christmas. The last few weeks have been filled with activities and events, I played my first ever hockey game which we won 4-1 (and I got the first goal of the game), our second game we won 3-2 in a shootout. We had an amazing work Christmas dinner which was only $2 for a ton of food and Santa photos (see below) and the lifty crew did a Secret Santa in which I got an amazing gift from Abby.
Work has been pretty standard lately. I’m working 9 days fortnights and have been put on fixed grip chairlifts only. That means I need to bump every chair forward so it’s comfortable for the guests. So you can all expect me to be like super cut when I get home… well you could but I think I drink too much beer for that to happen haha. One of the perks of working as a lifty is getting to ride to work and back everyday. The 4pm shred with a group of 10+ people all in blue jackets is amazing, even if it’s just down a green run. Another perk is getting to draw on the chalk boards at the lifts. I have done a few drawings now, you may have seen my pirate on Facebook, the newest ones for Christmas are a snowboarding Santa and Cookie Monster.
Otherwise, snowboarding has been great. I went out on Monday with Nick and Luca and went for a bit of a hike out to mid mountain. Hitting tree runs throughout the resort and even when down Challenger which is a double black run which isn’t open yet. We got epic pow shots, Nick fell down a cliff and we all bailed multiple times. Still one of the most fun days I’ve had here. Now it just needs to get a bit colder (positive temps suck) and a bit more snow to fall. Christmas dinner is tonight, we are heading upstairs for a potluck dinner and bringing chicken, potatoes and gravy .
Merry Christmas everyone, hope you all had a fantastic day and are getting ready for New Years Eve Parties! More updates to come soon.
Is anyone here also looking at going to Sun Peaks for the 2014/15 season?
Probably best to ask in 6 months Leasha, I had no plans till July / August.
I had someone ask me about my blog at the lift today, stoked people I don’t know are reading it
how about you put some more updates in it

Haha yeah I’m just really keen that’s all lol. I’ll ask back when it’s closer hehe.
Yeah I love the blog it’s cool I’ve also been checking for updates
Sorry guys, really busy most days and don’t have a ton of new things to write about.

Happy New Year
So above is a picture from the house party I attended for NYE. There was so many people there that they couldn’t get anymore people through the door and there was a line up outside! Really felt like a high school party from the movies. We had Vodka Jello shots to start and then we partied in 2014.
Other than a massive New Year, parties have quietened down and everyone is focusing more on shredding. This week is looking awesome for snowfall, had a small amount last night and it’s been snowing since 3pm (8pm now) and there is a 14cm day predicted for Friday / Saturday (I have the weekend off!) First game of hockey is back tomorrow night and I got 2 more days of bumping the hard lift. Though it’s really quiet and I’m not in as much pain as last week’s double there.
Still really loving being a lifty and Canada is amazing. If anyone gets a chance to come to Canada, I’d definitely recommend hitting up Sun Peaks as the low queues, tons of gladed tree runs and some really special terrain if you know where to look. I’ll leave you all with this video that Tamara (one of the other lifties here) made on the Struggles of being a Sun Peaks lifty
Ahh such a simple video but it makes me so pumped to get over there. I can’t wait to be working out in nature like that everyday. That’s defiantly what I call living the dream! All those shifts at Dan Murphy’s will pay off at the end of the year. Can’t wait to get out of that place!
Thanks for the update TJ I always look forwarded to them.
When you say hockey is back do you mean you joined a team over there? If so that’s sweet as!

Pay $20 to sign up for a team and play every Thursday night for fun at the local ice skating rink. $3 each week for skates and that’s it. We won 2-0 last night, no goals for me though.

That’s so cool I’m defiantly doing that I may bring my skates and gloves over. If you can’t already tell I play hockey
Also $20 is really cheap I pay that just for a training session -.-
Apart from ice hockey is there plenty of more things to keep you entertained? How many days do you work and have off?
I’m wanting to find out are there opportunitie to build a career out of working in the ski fields. Eg working your way up to higher positions like patrol ect.

You don’t get bored too easily, every night at staff accommodation people are doing stuff, lots of drinking, movie nights, games nights, just chilling with music etc. There are events on in the village but we rarely go back after work unless it’s to the pub or hockey.
We currently work 9-10 days a fortnight. So I get 5 days of free riding every 2 weeks.
Meanwhile, the facilities manager plays on my hockey team and I told him my bed was pretty bad, ended up getting a new plush pillow top bed hahaha

Yeah by the sounds of it there isn’t any time to get bored haha.
Oh what a good perk having him on your team haha.
Ahh so keen for next season :D
