So if he didn’t inform Ski Patrol the father may have reported him for leaving the site of the collision.

Yeh i would have gone all physical on the Dad if i was in that postion.
Maybe the dad was massive, and the kid is only 17?.. If that’s the case i don’t blame him for leaving.. I would have too!
