hmm, looks like a dump is coming next Saturday night. I really want to ride the Team, but I’ll definitely choose the Juice Wagon for powder!

Thanks! Actually, this is no trip - I live here. I usually submit to mags prior to the following season, so nothing lined up right now. If you see something you like, just shoot me a pm.  wink

Hey guys,
here’s an update from Happo from the past weekend. The forecast called for 10cm of snow Friday night, but we had 30 to 40 on the mountain, with a full on bluebird day to boot. Things started off badly as I parked the car, grabbed my gear and set off for the gondola lineup. After 10 meters I realized I had grabbed two different gloves - a Burton Clutch and a Burton Tech glove. They’re both black, so I figured, who cares? and kept walking. It wasn’t til I got to the gondola that I realized I had grabbed two RIGHT HANDED gloves! Dammit! I sprinted back to my car. On the way back I ran into a friend, D, so it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We still got up on the mountain early enough to enjoy the powder. I rode my Juice Wagon for the first time in deep snow and while it took a bit of adjusting to, I really liked it. Review to follow. Met up with some good friends on the mountain, did a few runs then headed different ways. I’ve got loads of ‘winter’ friends that I only get to see on the slopes, so it’s always special to run into them on a good snow day. It really doesn’t seem like we haven’t seen each other for six months, as we just pick up the conversations we left off last spring.

This is when I noticed my jacket pocket was open!

This has been a pretty amazing start to the season for sure. The news has been saying that it will an especially snowy winter so hopefully it lasts all season!
Anyhoo, you guys want to see the pow, right?
First is the short version. Have at it.

I’ll put up the long version on Thursday to go with the Juice Wagon First Impressions blurb.
So, all in all, it was a pretty good day. The high fives at the end were with a guy I had met on a backcountry tour in 2011 and just randomly spoke to at the top of Happo. At one point, I just asked him, “haven’t we met before?” and then we figured it out. So weird! We ended up doing a run together, along with his wife and her pretty Gentem board thumbsup He had a nice crash for me, which made it into the long version vid.
Random chairlift musings with D: the pros and cons of wearing underwear under your first layer long johns. I’m with Mizu on this one - I vote no undies. D insisted on undies, but only as long as they were tech undies (with proper wicking properties). What do you guys think???  thinking

I vote undies under the base layer.

that vid is sooooo rad!!! Cant wait for the long version, although it will make me sad that im not japowing this season

I vote undies but I have considered tech undies… not sure if they are worth the investment.

I find no undies too um drafty for my liking! LOL

I’m with Trent on the Video Front, and you already know my stance on the Y Front!!!!!

As for the Blog Front, lookin forward to more, and more, and more!!!!! shaka

I dont wear undies anyway, def no need for them when boarding wink

I think another consideration is the number of 1st layer underwear you have. If you only have 1 or 2 pairs and need to make them last on a trip, then under-undies are definitely recommended!

Valid point there Marc!

Tech boxer shorts all the way. These are the bomb.

Shouldn’t BW be making those? wink

It’s on the list. Haha.

I would have thought if you were going for tech undies with sweat-wicking etc etc then something like these would be the go.  Also because they’re wool, they could potentially be worn for more than one day if you needed to do that for some reason (eg. abject laziness).
