gulp  That doco is full on.
Lost my shit a few times throughout it.

Took me 3 times before I could watch it dry eyed!

Highly recommend it.
Will be forcing my girl to wear a helmet if she wants to ride with me next year also…

Vote for KP to be Nat Geo Adventure of the year.

Even if you don’t the accompanying article is interesting!

Apparently KP is going to carry the torch during the winter games opening ceremony!!!

Don’t forget to vote today!

I watched it last night, we thought it was really good - sad watching him come to terms with his disability.

I thought the message the doco was trying to send was unclear however. If it was ‘you must wear a helmet’, they make a pretty weak argument given KP was wearing one when he had his stack (so was SB). His was a freak accident imo.

They did bang on a bit the that the size pipes nowadays contributes to the risk - couldn’t agree more twith that - I get scared just slide-slipping down the center of an ice superpipe.

There was also a lot of focus on the risk of snowboarding again after a TBI. That’s a personal choice thing - but there can be no doubting the effect it has on family and loved ones.

He beef with Shaun White was made pretty clear though.

When I ride I’m most worried about a. breaking my neck, or b. smashing my teeth on a rail. A helmet won’t prevent either unfortunately.

Moto-x helmet with F1 neck brace?  LOL

Yeh Shaun comes off as a twat (already knew that)
The slow realisation of his limitations would have been heartbreaking for him, but ultimately to put his family through that again would be inconceivably unfair to them.

I was surprised…but not…that Kev and his missus broke up after he left hospital. Hard to explain why but yeh. She was a pro still touring and he had to stay at home and get better…

She no longer is though (competing).

She was young - thats a lot for someone to deal with.

We don’t know what their relationship was before the accident.

The argument was - if he wasn’t wearing a helmet he would be dead now.

You are right about Sarah the helmet did not help… but wearing a helmet is a minor thing to use that mitigates brain injury.

A million other thing can happen to you whilst riding a motorbike that can kill you - but you still have to wear a helmet!

I find it interesting that convertible drivers don’t have too… Even a softtop does give you that much protection if you rolled your car with it on.

So no super pipe riding in the new pip in perisher next year then?

Mr.h0z convinced me to get a helmet.. ( I didn’t go near the park or trees till I got one.) but I’m,glad I got,one.. I haven’t “used” it yet.. (I wear,it but haven’t hit my head) id rather have it on and not need it than not have it on and need it..

I’ve made all the guys watch it.. Even convinced one to get a helmet end of last season…

its a pretty deep and emotional doco.. To,see what not only he, but his family and, friends went through!

Yeh after my solid hit in the Leichardt park in front of NBG and his mate where i went head first off the 15 footer onto some ice convinced them to get helmets LOL

After that day, anytime i am going anywhere near the prak i use it. i really should use it all the time and i hopefully will do this the upcoming season.

Accidents aren’t always of your own making, ie not always your mistake. We have a couple of friends who have been slammed from behind, and suffered BI as a result. Helmets helped. I those cases the helmets were split, which would have been skull otherwise.

To me it’s like a seatbelt, just wear it.

I got hit from behind on a flat section. Slammed my back and head into the snow.

Got whiplash - Dr said it would have been a lot worst if I wasn’t wearing as helmet!
