Yeah, Kaiseki is a must do!!!!!

And yeah, while I’ve done the Japanese Breaky a few times, I still can’t get my head around Fish instead of the ol Bacon ‘n Eggs deal!!!!!

Although the soups/broths can be awesome!!!!!

You been watchin Destination Flavour Japan on SBS????? (It’s on Demand too)

* Oh, and we found a good tip with a Futon, is to ask if you can have another mattress as it makes it sooooo much more comfier!!!!! LOL

Yeah our Kaiseki was based on local pheasent which was cooked (or in most cases not cooked) in a variety of ways. One of the udon broths was to die for! Haha yeah I like to try everything at least once when over there but I’m not a big seafood eater to start with and breakfast would be a bridge too far with a big day ahead. Haha funny you say that most japanese “western” breakfasts I’ve had have been scrambled eggs, ham, the mandatory coleslaw and big fat slices of white bread to toast.

You bet I have been watching it (had been taping it as it was airing when we were away) I replied to you in the tv show thread. It’s been a great watch makes me want to book a flight right back there and do a bit more exploring. Some of the nabes, grilled rice and that wagyu! wow.

Haha I had sufficient padding at this one in hakone (could have done with a sheet though as I got pretty toasty under the doona) but I did struggle in Nozawa as I was pretty stiff and sore from 2 weeks boarding. I raided the cupboard in the room and built my own multilayered futon! smile

Not sure if it’s a wise choice for Dyldo the Pass Out Drunk to stay in the hub of Seediness?????

He’ll end up gettin sold as a sex slave in Nigeria if he slips up there????? LOL

Haha either that or end up a dancer at the robot restaurant!  sick

Good tip with the Nigerians though, probably best you give them a wide berth Dyldo (no matter how many free drinks or fun sexy times they offer) as you might have a target on your head. Don’t worry about the Japanese sprukers in the area they won’t give you the time of day.

It’s a very safe/fun area though. I spend quite a lot of time in the area by myself and other than exchanging words with a nigerian who got a little too touchy for my liking I’ve never had any issues as I was informed on what to avoid before going (which we’ve now passed on to you)

That is one and only thing that I hate about Japan!!!!!

Even the Buses are like Saunas!!!!! A couple of times I opted to grab a Taxi as I couldn’t bring myself to get back into a sweat box on wheels again!!!!! LOL

Looking forward to the two Tokyo episodes as well as the Kyoto and Osaka episodes to come. Hopefully recognise some places.

Yeah I hate that too! There’s only a couple of things I’m not fond of in Japan (smoking and the odd use or aircon/heating)

In winter you have 3 layers when walking around outside then strip to a tshirt whenever on public transport or indoors because as you said it’s like a sauna!

It wasn’t substantially better in Sept/Oct either. Warm and very humid outside, fortunately some aircon on trains and buses (not all though) but store to store would vary and subway stations were sweat boxes. I struggled in shorts and a tshirt while the locals seemed quite content in their suits!
