I bought beer and meat. I drank the beer and burnt the meat on the BBQ. Today was a resounding success!
It wasn’t the size that got me it was the 4K definition of the thing. Obviously it had 4K promo disc playing on it but it was incredible. There was an 80” something playing some surfing there as well but it was like the TV was struggling for processing power as it was kinda notchy, the 70” beside it was far superior.
Yeah, we just got a new LED 3D in a 42” cause we felt like the 50” was a step back in the picture quality stakes!!!!!
Apparently they all use the same processor regardless of the size?????
Our lounge room is also small, so 42” was a better choice purely for watching!!!!!
Just picked up one of these with an 18-55mm lens on sale for the princely sum of $500.
Grabbed this very basic telephoto lens for $130 on Ebay
Between the two of them I should be able to shoot something half decent when I go to Tonga.

Funny story from Japan, had a friendly Japanese guy ask if I wanted him to take a photo of us. I jumped at the opportunity (selfies be damned) and handed him my camera phone.
After he took the phono he asked if I could snap a photo of the two of them. He then handed me a Canon 1D! (he did secure the wrist strap) He let me know in broken English that it was a wide lens. When I looked through the viewfinder it was amazing it captured so much from such a short distance away.
I lined it up and gently pressed on the button. I swear in the half a second I had the button pressed I heard the shutter go off about 10 times. Begrudgingly I handed the camera back to him and with a smile and a nod he was off.
I’m not really up on photography gear, I knew it was a nice camera but when I googled it later on I hadn’t been aware I was holding a small car in the hands!
Haha drc!! They are an awesome camera.. I have a wide angle,on my 5d and they get alot in them.. I have to crop mine though, as its for my other camera which Is a 1.6 crop and this is a full frame, so I get a black rectangle around the edge of the photo lol!!
but the 1 d are massive.. And pretty heavy.. But they take an awesome photo!!
Ha ha the 1D, kinda the camera I think a lot of ppl would buy if money was no object. It shoots 14fps from memory so it’s very possible it took 10 shots ha ha ha! The new one even shoots 4K video at 25fps, apparently it chews 1 GB per 15secs of footage meaning that you need a 120GB SD C10 SD card to get 30mins of footage!

So is the 1D pretty high up in the camera world? Out of interest what would the lens have added to it’s value? (I know nothing about it other than it was wide)
Wow mike that would explain the shutter noises I heard, you could just tell by the feel of it that it was a serious piece of kit. Would have loved to have played with it a bit more and a proper dslr would have come in handy when the sun went down (the camera phone just didn’t handle low light well at all)
Did feel like a bit of a knob after showing him how to take a photo on mine though! 
Japan really makes you want to buy a DSLR and I love the photos they take but I have a hard enough time deciding on whether I’ll carry a jacket when travelling I just couldn’t see myself lugging one around.

Already obsessed! So comfy and all of those fancy worded technology features
seem to make a difference.
Super stoked I got them for a third of the price too! Woo.

Nice, the Nike boots are building quite a following on these forums! I’ll need new boots for next season but I just hate the boot fitting process so well done on getting a pair you’re stoked on!

In the Canon range, the 1D is pretty much “it” awesome piece of kit.
With an L series lens on it, you could of easily been holding between 10 and 15K’s worth of kit
