Canada Mega Thread - Information and Advice

Sounds like you can ask them to email/fax it to Canada IF you email the adress Jonny wrote above TJ.

It sounds like it has to go from our RTA to them direct, and fax or email should work.

Jonny might be better off helping this part…

Do I need to apply before I email? Or do we have a number they need to fax it to?

DON’T get your driving record sent out to you as they won’t accept it if you hand it to them. You have to have it faxed directly to their offices in order for them to exchange your aus license for a BC one. This was the case for me last year and for friends over the past 6 months - they may have changed it recently but I highly doubt it and would suggest calling ICBC first before you pay the money to have it sent out to you.

I went in today and they told me it had to be an original copy from the RTA , not a copy or reprint,  or I could have it faxed or emailed DIRECTLY from the RTA to them.

You’ll need to go into an office in BC and tell them to expect your copy of driver history. In the end I got off the phone with the RTA they gave me an email address and I sent a few emails to them. Then then Faxed my driver history directly to the Whistler licensing office so ill go in tomorrow and make sure its there!

Highly doubt it will cost you too much. It’s not like Asthma is uncommon and at least it’s not the USA lol

You are typically allowed to take a 6 month supply of any drugs you need,
I have some a similar situation and my drs have just said buy the 6 months supply here and then given me a letter to show to customs in case they ask any questions.
If you want a longer supply you might be able to get a script for an increased dosage but take your standard dose, disclaimer not sure where this falls in the legal department and there is a possibility of tripping up a travel insurance claim, just a possible suggestion…

Yep, I’m taking a 6 month script for my meds over to Canada this season. Seems like the best way to do it.

Ya i was thinking that would save me the hassle and bring over a six month supply, thanks for all the help guys, appreciate it!

Just found my email from Staff Accommodation in my spam mailbox… been sitting there for 6 days. Argh. Hope it’s all good since I got an email today from my boss saying he thinks it’s probably full :(

Quick survey - how did/do you (personally) travel from downtown Vancouver to Whistler.
As there are several bus companies with varying prices and pick-up points, I’m trying to choose one.
So any comments on the good or bad?

What dates you planning Steve? I’ll be driving up to Whistler on the 25th if you’d like a lift? Chip in for some petrol lol.

Wont be until the 31st unfortunately, thanks for the offer.
Flying in on the 30th then heading up the next day, have done a few days in vancouver before and will probably have a few trips during the season so really just need some time for a SIN, a bank account, a phone number and to get past some of the jet-lag

Greyhound bus. get a taxi from to the bus station/ Grand central station. I think it was $28 for the one way trip. The bus has power , usb charging points and free WIFI. Sit behind the driver on the way up for the views. Its the only way to do it!
