Printing Photographs??

Avatar

Just a quick question, weirdly enough I’ve had a few requests to buy some of my photos on a canvas, i have no idea how to go and even get this done haha. I have been looking online and some of the prices go pretty high, just wondering if anyone had any experience with any of this and what i should look for quality wise and if anyone had a website / store they print from? Probably looking a spaz here for some good info.

I think im gonna get a few for myself too but i like the look of a canvas print more then a photo print in a frame. Anyway any help would be sweet and not even sure how much to sell them for??

I might get a few printed for myself and suss out how much money it costs then go from there i guess.

Also feel free to move this to the photo / filming thread, just wanted a quick response haha.

Cheers

Fabness. Sign up for their newsletter because they often have half price etc. I have two canvas prints in my house from them, they are awesome. Good quality (100x50cm).

Fast printing and shipping too. You’ll have it in a week smile

I know of a few local places near me.
You can pretty much walk (or drive) through any industrial area and find a handful of printing businesses on each street. Most are family operated (even the ones with massive government contracts) and will have someone friendly in reception who has time to talk about your needs.
Some won’t (or can’t) do any work for you unless you’re a professional in the industry (graphic design/photographer/etc..)

Canvas looks cool but as you’ve found out expensive.
Compare the price of a canvas print 100X100cm (eg: instacanvas) to the cost of a 500X700 print on photo paper (about $30 - might be industry price).

IMO if you want to do canvas printing look into doing it yourself.
In a simple explanation: You modify an inkjet printer, buy canvas that will go through your printer and click print.
Canvas hides many flaws.

I had a quote done for a 2000X1500 print. Best option was on vinyl (banner), can’t remember the price.

Printing on wood is my personal favorite right now. It can be done at home - all you need is a laser print of your photo. And if you work in an office that shouldn’t be hard and some product from the hardware store. wink

From your profile it says you’re in Canberra. Try these guys - http://www.signsqueanbeyan.com.au - ask to speak with Dan.

Like Spaz said, go talk to a Graphic Printer!!!!!

They’ll have the right gear, and if ya talk turkey, they’ll do an Industry Deal on prices for ya!!!!!

I had one done of Yotei on canvas, 1500 x 500 in B&W and it looks sweet!!!!! Done by a local (Pixles) and it was good to sit down and talk it over before it got printed!!!!! Unlike the Online/K-Mart/Office Works ones!!!!!
