Have you guys applied for other mountains?

You could check out Grouse, Cypress or Seymour which would keep you close to Vancouver and you’d probably make friends with locals who have cars etc (take day trips to Whistler)

Sun Peaks still has quite a few jobs still up. Come hang out with me and get a job here. They do skype interviews and the staff accom is a room to yourself (apartment with 4 people (1 per room))

Big White has their job fair in October which you could get to if you don’t get a job in Whistler as well. Throw a resume out there as a backup too.

Or Panorama with Jonny who was at the Shred with us last weekend is an option too (He is going to be a snowmaker). Their staff housing is apparently almost brand new smile and being at a smaller mountain will let you have a closer knit group of friends.

Just some options to consider if you really are fretting about Whistler and want some backup plans.

Good work lolwhat, what job did you apply for at the job fair? I’m still holding on hope since the job application is still up for the job i went for. There’s always the november job fair which maybe scraps but that along with bombing resumes in everywhere should net me something, even if its washing dishes a job is a job then theres always options to apply for anything else that may arise that maybe better??

Met a guy last year and he didn’t attend any job fair and managed to pull a fair amount of interviews in september. There was a earlier post that mentioned something about one of the recruitment staff having some emergency which might be the reason some of us aren’t hearing?

Has anyone who hasn’t heard popped an email to them for clarification? I might do that today.

Hey ads, I applied for front of house - cashier, but they invited me for an interview in back of house, maybe because ive always worked in hospitality(KFC, GJ’s, maccas etc.) Im going to shoot them an email see what is up if I could get a front of house gig, its a lot better.  I can always try and find another job if its not what I want after a few months

I also applied on the first day so maybe they are still looking through resumes.

I applied for the Tickets and Validation job last night and was offered an interview in an email this morning.
Only problem is I explicitly stated I wont be in Whistler until end of October and didnt click the tick box saying I could attend the September job fair… Sent them an email asking for Skype or phone interview but by the words on the website it doesnt sound likely.

Another Newbie here!  grin

Awesome thread, I wish i’d discovered it a few months ago when I was going through the hassles of applying for my visa.
I’m flying into Vancouver on Oct 27 and planning on heading up to Whistler for the November job fair. Fingers crossed there’s still some jobs available! Anyone know of any good hostels in Van?

Cheers smile

Hey Caity, a big group of us also get in on the 27th are you flying AirNZ? We are all staying at the SameSun (huge liklihood its booked out as we went through TWHC and have a feeling we have taken over the place around that time but the HI on Granville St is across the road and you can rock on over to Samesun and meet a whole bunch of us smile We are heading up to Whis on the 1st

That sounds awesome! Yep i’m flying AirNZ from Brissy. I’ll definitely check out that accommodation, would be cool have some people to meet up with when i arrive! smile

Awesome Caity I’m on the same flight from Brisbane - I will be the one in floods of tears haha - we will have to meet up!!!

Haha i’ll probably be the same. Yeah sounds good we should definitely meet up!

If you want to hold onto your mobile number at home, you can get a $5 dollar prepaid sim from Aldi and port your number over to it - lasts 12 months and can be topped up to extend that.

Cheers mate, I’ll probably get one and leave it with my Mum to check anything important that is sent to me (even accidentally)

Take a sim with you - chuck it in the phone once a week…

Eh, It’ll mainly be spam calls. Anyone who I care about will know I’m gone.

Not worth the effort.
