The do or die event in San Clemente, California is upon us. Kelly, Mick and Joel are all in the running for the world title and this event will make or break their title race.
Trestles is one of the funnest waves on tour. Hacks, tubes and airs Its got it all. Will Slater take the crown again? Mr Slater has been in the final for the last 10 years in a row or something stupid and won it for the last 3 years running! Freak.
WIldcards for the event are Mitch Crews (Aus) and Dane Reynolds (USA)
Check the teaser and a recap of last years event. And be sure to check BW for event updates.
Event kicks off on the 15th of Sept!
Competition kicked off this morning at 1am local ‘straya time in clean 3ft surf at Lowers.
Guns came out blazing early on with 1st round wins from Nat Young, TB, Jordy, J-Dubb, Fanning and Gabe Medina just to name a few. The 2 other big names, Parko and Kelly got done in their first round heats but managed to blitz their round 2 heats.
Something fishy is up with http://www.thehurleypro.com as i cant get any updates or heats on demand etc.
Im sure they’ll have it sorted soon enough.

Day 1 highlights
If you have any interest in competitive surfing do yourself a favour and go watch Julian Wilsons Round 4 heat from today in the On Demand section, pretty amazing surfing and Julian really earning all the up and comer accolades he’s had over the last couple of years.
In other news Parko and Slater are out, Jordy Mich and Taj are now in a great position to make some big impact on the ratings race.
So TB beats Julian Wilson in the final! Both surfers were amazing through out the whole event! Julian taking competitive surfing to the next level with his arial display.
J-Dubb just couldnt find a way past Taj in the final. Taj coming some close in the past years to winning, this was his time. Big ups TB!!
So stoked Taj broke his draught at Trestles. 35-year-old and still charging! Legend!
