IMO the involvement and funding of redbull and gopro has absolutely catapulted innovation and progression of every sport they have touched to levels even the participants would have laughed at and called crazy ten or fifteen years ago.

I strongly disagree (but respect, and can understand how you forged that opinion)
Human beings innovate and progress.
Brands put money forward to manufacture an image for increased profit.
The innovation and progression would have occurred without them or their funding. Just the popularity and exposure wouldn’t be there.
Red Bull and GoPro couldn’t be further from innovation.
Both companies copied existing products and remarketed them.
Case in point:
Dietrich Mateschitz (founder of Red Bull) is open about where the idea and logo for Red Bull comes from, even the name is ripped off.
I know much about GoPro and have a solid opinion about that company and products.
I have personal experience of GoPro ripping off peoples innovations and branding them as their own.
They don’t deserve the credit. The huge online success through youtube wasn’t even created by them.
I have enough respect for Red Bull and GoPro to give them kudos for putting funds back into the sports their products are most used - even more so for GoPro.

Sometimes someone has a great product, just useless at selling it, then someone else comes along, tweaks it a little and the rest, as they say is history

Hopefully, “some person” will have a comeback, like Jobs, after having their ideas taken by GoPro.
They will do it better, overcharge and and make a bazillion dollars.
I’m sure they would buy a snow resort and give BWM lifetime season passes. 
I just happen to have been watching Kingswood Country.
In the words of Ted Bullpit “Henry Ford was a poof” I think he was refering to the thing you put your feet up on
and possibly the best thing spoken on television EVER..
“If I won Tattslotto tomorrow, I would go out and buy a brand new Ford Falcon, get Dick Johnson to sign the bonnet, then drive it off a CLIFF!!!!!”

The penultimate example of giving his inventions and discoveries for the benefit of mankind, only to have all the credit and fortune given to the Wright Bro’s.
The Wright brothers weren’t smart enough to actually apply all his findings to their patent.

DaVinci never flew and built very few working models of his inventions.
His hang glider is still 1000 years ahead of it’s time or a million years ahead of evolution.
My guess is DaVinci did build a working time machine, a one way trip back in time, it worked!
But he got the credit and was very wealthy. Probably got paid just to draw and paint pictures.
