Whistler 2010/11 accommodation search

Avatar

If you could shoot me a PM in regards to costs etc I may be interested and may look to get a group together for it. Long shot to get that many people but could be worth a shot.

haha sounds like everyone on here is up for a quieter place.. I’ve got little (no) experience in renting places so it’s all pretty new to me so I’m trying to learn what I can and need to get an idea on references etc.

Dan: Big White was my 2nd choice due to the fact that I know people there but since I’ve got the job in whistler I’m heading there. Much more terrain and what not so it was always my number 1 priority to go there. Mate of mine has worked whistler and visited big white but has opted for whistler again just due to the terrain available there.

Keep us posted with your decision making process and if you’re in whistler I think we could all work something out (as it is I count 4 people here keen for a quiet place to live for the season). I know I’m getting there a bit later but I’m sure we could come to some agreement in regards to rent etc. As it is I was expecting that if I line something up prior to leaving I’ll be paying for a period prior to my arrival.

Sure thing, will let you know how it unfolds but if we could organise something for Whistler via this thread that would be sweet. When do you arrive? With a job lined up in Whistler its a no brainer that you’d go there.

Jeremy, do you by any chance know whether finding accommodation in Big White is as hard as it is (supposedly) in Whistler? And for Big White, whether finding accommodation is the more important thing to arrange first rather than work (like I understand it is for Whistler)?

Cheers smile

Could you also PM me about the costs etc? That place looks awesome!

Cheers for the PM Jeremy, will give it some thought and see who I can find who is commited for the season without a place to live since last thing I want is to be left short and having to pay more.

Dan, I’ll be arriving in whistler on the 10th of November, keep forgetting to book my flight. Got sidetracked today at work after checking baggage with air canada. The rep I spoke to today couldn’t give me a straight answer so will call back tomorrow and hope for someone else to confirm the boardbag question i’ve got - unless someone on here can confirm if they charge extra for a 2nd board in the bag since their site states only one board which I find a bit strange since it’s a 23kg limit. i know air new zealand didn’t care that I had 2 boards last time just don’t want to get to the airport and be told to take one out.. Maybe I’m just being paranoid but I don’t want to even think about buying another board over there until the sales start around new year.

As soon as thats done I’m calling expedia to book the flight.

Hey guys,

Trust me, if you can get a group together for this house, it is well worth it!

I received an email from the landlord this morning, but you need to be quick…

“Sounds great.  Please ask them to respond quickly.  I have 2 other groups interested and I will likely need to make some quick decisions.  Your reco will go a long way, so I would love to entertain them as tenants.”

This house is one of the best you will find in Whistler at a reasonable price, without a doubt. Let me know if you are keen and I will put you in contact with her.

Mike, if you’re arranging this one and you need another person or two, please let me know? May be interested depending on price. Confirming that this is located at Creekside though?

Yeah it’s in Creekside, just waiting to hear from Jeremy on pricing to get an idea as to whether I can afford it. Another option which may be cheaper could be somewhere like lost lake lodge which is a short (free) bus ride into town and if we had 3-4 people it’d be good value for money. Part of a complex but outdoor hot tub, pool, gym and well appointed appartments.

Ditto on the pricing.

Is creekside far from town/lifts?

Do you have a link to Lost lake lodge Finney? Will check it out also.

The house is approx $25k for the full six month lease. That includes 5/6 bedrooms.

Creekside was the original village. There are lots of shops, supermarket etc. Creekside has its own gondola going straight up Whistler mountain. Likewise you can ride all the way down to creekside.

If you are interested, let me put you in touch with the landlord and she will send you all the details.

I’m assuming the 6 month period is november to april?

Yes, from the start of November till the end of April. If you require something else, I’m sure you can work that out with her.

Any recommendations for cheap one month rental between early Jan and Feb? Whistler prices and availability sure is crazier then Tahoe/Colorado areas I’m looking at atm.

Cool thanks Jeremy!

Do you know if there is a limit to how many people you can have staying there? My quick calcs are that if you had 10 people thats only just over $400 each per month. Very cheap. Maybe less people would be better. So 6 people would still only be $700….

Yeah I think we’re onto something here. My girlfriend and I are happy to go with Whistler and ditch the Big White idea. Getting a wicked house hooked up (the one Jeremy has shown us looks as good as any) with a group (quieter group like you said wink sounds like a goer. If we can get the numbers I would be keen putting us down for Jeremy’s recommended house. I guess we could go something smaller if we cant get the numbers though
