Introducing TRACE - The Most Advanced Activity Monitor For Skate/Surf/Snow

The creators of the successful AlpineReplay have invented a revolutionary technological tool for measuring your skate progression: “Trace”. This is the most advanced activity monitor for action sports, and you can be one of the first skaters to own it by pledging on their Kickstarter page.
Light, durable, and small (roughly the size of a Reese’s cup), Trace uses advanced GPS technology to accurately measure a trick’s distance, flips, spins, height… just about every aspect of a skate session. You can even compete with other skaters by using the Trace phone app. Pretty awesome.
Trace is currently in the beta-testing stages (as you can see in this video), and is scheduled to ship in February.
Trace makes action sports measurable, sharable, and comparable.
Surfers: How many waves did you catch? How long were your rides? How sharp were your turns? Trace can tell you everything about your session.
Skaters: How many tricks did you land? How high did you ollie off of those stairs? How fast were you going? Trace can tell you everything about your session.
Skiers + Snowboarders: How many runs did you take? How fast were you going? How much airtime are you logging? Which trails did you take? Trace can tell you everything about your session.
where can you put this on a skateboard without it A: being in the way or B: likely to get smashed with a slide or grind?

They have it on the inside of the back truck. That won’t be effected by most grinds. Only a sloppy boardslide would get hit on a rail

I watched the vid.
Dont get me wrong here, i think its a rad idea and what they show of the testing uploads to the phone looks awesome (the track showing the turns on the wave). I dont care who or how ‘pro’ you are, your not going to land a board slide perfectly in the middle of your board 100% of the time,even the skater in the vid has scratches on his deck up where they mounted it.
If i got one, i dont think id be slapping one onto the underside of my skateboard. Onto a snow or surfboard, hells yeah!!!
I totally see your point trent and agree. I still would give one a crack, if it broke, it breaks. Will at least be good to see how durable they actually are
Would be good if it was a tad smaller so it could go next to the truck but avoid wheel bite
