Maybe they weren’t illegal as such? My the applied by the proper channels?? (as a refugee)
If so maybe he has a platform to argue - “My family were refugees and we did via the proper channels” so is very much anti those who go about it the wrong way?
But hell you think he would have some compassion….

He would have a very good argument if he did come through the right process!!!!!
And while its terrible what some governments do to their people, I’m not sure that opening the gates for all to enter is the way to change it????? And I’m sure if everyone had to halve their standard of living, they would have a very different outlook on an open door policy?????

John Nguyen came to Australia with his grandparents as a refugee fleeing persecution from communist Vietnam when he was six years old.He spent nine months in a camp in Malaysia before being granted refugee status by the Fraser Government. John and his family arrived in Australia not able to speak English and with nothing to their name.
But to find that you have to go digging, from the libs website to his personal website then actually find this half way down a page. You’d think he’d word things better in the letter.

It’s not illegal to seek asylum, nor is it to arrive by boat.
