Yeah true. I’d set a reminder lol. But likely I’d be over compensating anyway, 8-12 months minimum.
Hi guys,
Excellent thread with a heap of useful information. I’m also planning on heading up for the season and was comparing travel insurance this morning. I was just reading some of the PDS and saw that some don’t cover backcountry. I just read insure and go’s PDS and it does cover backcountry but you need to be with a ‘professional snow sport instructor’ which could be a bit of a pain. I found that insure4less does cover backcountry and from what I can tell you don’t need to be with a professional guide. Insure and go came in at $1369 for it’s gold service and insure4less was $1827. The cover was from 1-11-13 to 1-6-14.
Does anyone know of companies that clearly state that they cover backcountry/ off piste skiing? Thanks

I discussed it a bit in this thread https://www.boardworld.com.au/forums/viewthread/5253/
I ended up going with AAMI for my Japan trip last January.
The tip is you are actually more looking for companies that don’t exclude backcountry/offpiste in there PDS rather than specifically including it.
Excellent, thanks. Just reading through the other threads as we speak. Thanks for the tip.

Yep this,
Cause even if they say they included it as I mentioned earlier in this thread the blurred lines of what is considered backcountry and what is not could be your unsticking point!
Key terms would also be “patrolled areas or “patrolled areas”
Hey TJ in all your searching have you come across any good phone/ Internet info for use over there? I’m about to delve into that search now but wondered if you or someone else may be able to save some time?
Hey Wilms,
try doing a google search with “boardworld [then question]”
A lot of commonly asked questions have been answered.
I knew that it was discussed last season so I just search on google “Boardwolrd whistler pre paid phone”
and here is the resulting thread

As Finney says in that thread, Virgin on a plan is a decent way to go.
I haven’t done research yet. If I go Sun Peaks, I’ll have to make sure they have decent coverage… I know you can have awesome in one place and zero a few hours down the road…
Haha thanks oz I was feeling wayyyyyy too lazy to look anything up
I’ll have a good read cheers TJ.
All good wilms.
Its just that none of the whistler experts seem to be around and/or posting in these threads so I think it’s best to google for your answers.

So the response to my email was:
Thank You for Applying to Sun Peaks Resort,
This is to confirm that I have received your application. I will begin conducting interviews in the middle of August and if you are selected I will be contacting you via telephone or skype. If you are unable to take a phone call please let me know and we can make other arrangements. Thank you again and enjoy the rest of your day.
The worrying part of this for me is that I only asked a question, didn’t provide a resume, any details about myself or phone number. So if I am chosen, then are they going to email me for my details? Or am I not going to be chosen because my details aren’t readily available.
...And this is why I didn’t want to email them! :(
Oh dear!
You never email someone about a job without your CV.
I would send them and email AGAIN saying you are really keen to work as a lifty this season.
Attach your CV.
Urgh, ok… I wasn’t trying to apply for the job in the email. Just asking about it.
Why can’t I have my cake and eat it too… lol
Should i reply to the email they sent me? or send a new one?
I don’t want to look desperate…
I don’t want to look desperate…
But you are.
I would send them a fresh one - or at least change the subject line.
Actually I would fwd your original email and just say one line.
“Due to the email response I received I thought I would send my CV through so I can be considered for an August phone/skype interview.
Kind Regards,
Tristan”
Is your CV resort job ready?
Flick it to me and I will have a look. I have some capacity today.
