2014 Wish List
What gear are you guys buying for this coming season? Although I might be back home in Indo this coming season and possibly not snowboard =(, I still wanna get the new 2014 Never Summer Proto HD in a 154 just because it’s the best board I’ve ever tried and they might change it next season.
I’m a bit interested in that board just based on your earlier comments, skip, although it seems to have the gullwing style profile which I’m probably not as fond of as camrock.
Personally I might be up for some new boots, we’ll see.
@mudhoney: Last year when I demoed the Evo, I didn’t like NS’ rocker profile either. But for some reason, this one is awesome. They change the rocker-camber profile a little bit. I was expecting I’m gonna like the Lib Tech Jamie Lynn C3 or the Salomon Sick Stick more but did not.
I alrrady bought my gear that I wanted for this year so I can honestly say I dont really want anything more this season. I would really love for my gf to get some more stuff though, the all black outerwear needs some changing. I have found that girls who have not been exposed to the snow and the “fashion” (and I use that term very loosely) seem to want stuff that they would wear elsewhere rather than realising that you will never wear it anywhere else and buy with that in mind! That opens up a whole world of hideous colour combos that I for one wouldnt entertain wearing if not on the slopes!

Hah I’m actually going the other way. Just put in an order for a new jacket/pants with a more subdued street/military style. I’ll still have bright blue pants and jacket in the wardrobe though if I need to get my colour on.
As for a wishlist, I might hold out on any major purchases for a while as it doesn’t look like I’ll head overseas this summer so I’ll pump more money into surfing gear probably.
I do know that my board that was brand new before this season has already had the base/edges destroyed by rocks so I’ll use that to justify another board purchase next season. I’ll also be due for a new set of boots by then but I hate boot shopping!
Still want to demo a pair of Now bindings but I’m still pretty stoked with my Rome 390boss (especially now that they’ve just shipped me out a bunch of replacement parts for a worn ladder/ratchet)

I think they are sick but they dont fit with my helmet and the bug eye look is pretty intense with them, huuuuuuuge lens but it also means peripheral vision is insane good! just didnt shop around enough and bought them before i knew what i was after

Thanks mate that’s a very generous offer. Unfortunately I’m tied to Vic for the foreseeable future. I’ve read a few reviews of that board and they all seem to like it. The only slight negative I’ve seen is that the board can feel a bit squirrely when flat-basing on cat tracks etc. I guess that’s to be expected with the rocker in the middle though.
DigitalReaver has the ProtoHD. I rode it for a run down Eyre T-bar on the weekend mainly off the groomed run and more in the powder.
Pros:
- Stiffer than my Scallywag which meant it held better at speeds
- Pop is amazing. I can get a good half meter in the air easily
- Still flexy enough to butter and jib with
Cons:
- Dan’s bindings were too big for me (and him) which ESS swapped after our trip. Should be better for him now
- Doesn’t float in powder as well as my Scallywag. It tries to cut through and you have to lean back a heap more than the RC board.
- Edges are still razor sharp so it catches pretty easily. I like my edges blunter than a butter knife.
All in all, it’s a good board. Dan’s might be a tad short for powder but if you’re mainly sticking to the park / groomers, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. (If I could get it for the right price.)
